I almost got my chest sliced open today by an asshole doctor... Yep. And my dog is smarter than the doctor.
I had a bad asthma attack this morning, and my inhaler wasn't doing the trick. When I woke up, my dog Susie knew something was wrong, and she ran in my room, climbed carefully on my bed and laid her head over my chest, where I was wheezing. It was so adorable, and she is so sweet. My mom took me to the ER because I almost passed out because I was trying to hard to breathe. When we got there, they gave me some ventolin and oxygen treatments, and I felt back to normal, but they wanted to take some chest x-rays to make sure it wasn't pneumonia, which I'm prone to getting. Here's where the fun begins! I forgot to take my nipple ring out before the x-ray. Uh oh! The doctor was taking sooo long looking it over, and comes back an hour and a half later to the room I was waiting in, and said rather solemnly, "We've found peculiar in your results that could be your problem here." I didn't think of my nipple ring, and I was scared to death! I thought he discovered a tumor or something! He shows me and my mother the x-ray, and I couldn't believe what he thought was "in my lungs"... the jewelry! What a dumbass! Do you believe that? I was, for once in my life, at a complete loss for words! Yeah, and my mom wasn't too pleased either. She knew about the piercing because she happened to accidentally see it when we were shopping for prom dresses, but she doesn't need a reminder. I still can't believe the stupidity of someone who's responsible for dozens of lives every day. At least they didn't do an emergency operation, lol!

You can never trust those ER doctors, I tell ya.
When I was 17 years old, I slipped on some ice and fell in my parent's driveway. I had a splitting headache and was throwing up a lot (I had a bad concussion), so my mother and one of my older brothers took me to the emergency room. My mother and I waited in the examination room for the doctor to show up, and when he finally did, we did not like him at all. He came into the room and had a weird grin on his face. My mom and I thought he was either shooting up the drugs he was perscribing to people, was drunk, or perhaps both. I explained to the doctor what happened, and this is the clincher that really made us dislike this guy: He walks over to where I am sitting on the examining table, parts my hair, turns to my mother and says, "You see that bump there? That is where she hit her head." No shit, Sherlock, I think we already knew that, dumbass! We then asked the doctor if it would be okay for me to take gym classes, and he falsely told us that it would be okay to do the things that I normally do. I came to find out that running in gym class could have made the bump in my head bleed internally, which could have killed me. I found this out when I went to my regular doctor a few days after seeing this quack doctor. I was sick in bed for 10 days, because the concussion was so bad, I would throw up every time I would try to get up and walk around, and also because I had a terrible headache. When we received a bill in the mail for the emergency room quack's services, my mom called the hospital and explained to them what happened, told them how displeased we were with this doctor, and that we were NOT going to pay this bill. We never got billed again, which makes me wonder if this is not the first complaint against this doctor that the hospital had received. Since this negative experience, I am a little leery about going to emergency rooms for treatment of ANY kind. ER doctors, in my opinion, are either doctors who are just starting out and need to build a clientele, or doctors who are just not very good. I only go to emergency rooms now when I absolutely have no other choice. It's like my mom always says, sometimes you need to be your own doctor. She's right about that. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Oh my God, that's awful! Lol, I believe it, though. I'm glad you didn't wind up internally bleeding!

Thanks, I'm glad you didn't have that unnecessary operation. That would have been awful as well. [This message was edited Fri Jan 9 22:08:56 PST 2004 by psychodelicide] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

She could have demanded that the doctor sew her one breast that he sliced off without being charged, since it was the doctor's fault it got cut off in the first place. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Well, I don't think I would have wanted my breast sliced off for any amount of money. My chest is an asset!

I didn't realise that there were doctors who specialised in this part of the body. You should have surely seen a chest doctor instead.
