Who Else Wore Braces When They Were Younger?

Or perhaps you are wearing braces now. I had braces when I was in high school and wore them for 2 years and 4 months. I went regularly for my "tightenings", and had to wear rubber bands and headgear during part of this "treatment".

Unfortunately, you can't even tell that I ever wore braces. Two of my teeth in the front are crooked, and my bottom teeth are worse now then before I got the braces put on (they look like a crooked picket fence). At one time, I went back to the same orthodontist who had originally put my braces on to get braces put BACK on my top front teeth. Unfortunately my teeth have again moved.

I think that perhaps part of the reason why my teeth have not stayed put is because I had to get four teeth pulled (two on top and two on bottom) in order to make room for my teeth to move before I had the braces put on. I have talked to other people who also wore braces whose teeth have also moved since they were taken off. When I think about this, it pisses me off, especially since braces are not cheap, and I'm not made of money to where I can keep getting braces only to have the same end result. You would think these damn orthodontists would come up with an effective way to straighten teeth and to KEEP them straight even after the braces are off. pissed pissed

stupid orthodontists edit pissed pissed
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

not just braces, but one of those headgear things that come out of your face and wrap around your neck.

they told me i could wear it just at night and be done with it in 4 years, or to wear it all the time for 1 year. i opted for the latter. it takes a lot of balls to be in 6th grade and wear one of those to school lol

I wore them from age 12 to age 14.

...and I also had to get 4 teeth pulled out (2 top & 2 bottom) - I remember vividly how the dentist took a pair of glorified pliers and just yanked them out (thank GOD for painkillers!!!).

Fortunately, I wound up with straight teeth that haven't moved yet 20 years later. [knock-on-wood]
