James Cameron's SPIDER-MAN Here's the thing.I know a lot of folks who believe Sam Raimi's Spider-Man to be the greatest superhero film since Donner's Superman,but...it just isn't.Don't get me wrong, there's some good stuff there, but overall it just didn't deliver. For one,the Green Goblin was a joke, both the costume and Dafoe's performance(and I like most of his work),but also the psuedo hybrid of MJ/Gwen Stacey storyline. The Goblin /GS story should have been done the right way,and saved for a sequel, cuz it really stands alone and would suffer if it was squeezed in with an origin story.
Raimi just missed the mark on so many wonderful things that he could have done. Some ,no doubt, may be asking "such as?"Which brings me to James Cameron's original script treatment. Besides being a more daring and visual storyteller than Sam,his story was perfect.I remember first reading it back in 1999,and it blew me away.I was thinking if he does this,it might possibly be the best superhero adaptation ever.i recently reread it the other day,and I still feel the same way 5 years later. It's all there, and more.I can't do it justice by siting examples,so if you're interested in seeing what SPIDER-MAN should have been, you can check out at http://www.movie-page.com...cripts.htm "Pam...that's just stupid."

that's another thing,Dunst is NOT MJ.Poor casting. This wouldn't have worked, but Angelina Jolie is a dead ringer for John Romita's rendition of MJ. "Pam...that's just stupid."

I havne't been a huge comic book or superhero fan.. but i saw the movie and it was just.. I agree the Green Goblin was a bit laughable! The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin

I played the Spider man Mega drive game so I know about 6 of the villans, and I saw the new film cos I just love KD. What are you basing the Angelina Jolie thing on? Is there an original comic, or book or something? What came first? [This message was edited Fri Jan 9 12:29:58 PST 2004 by KAMILLE]

I remember when all this was goin' on. Cameron had already done Titanic and I was AMPED about the possibility of him doing Spidey simply because of his innovations in special effects. He'd said on Howard Stern that he already had the script written and that he was considering Leo DiCaprio for the lead role. All in all, I don't think Sam did a bad job, but I hope at some point we get to see Venom. He's probably my favorite Spidey villain.

The first Batman Comic Book is Detective Comics #27, May 1939. A Very Fine to Near Mint copy goes for about $450,000. there are only about 5 of them that survived. The next vintage Batman book is Batman #1, which was the Spring of 1940 or 1942 (cant remember off the top of my head). A VF to NM goes for about $250,000. Before the first Batman movie came out in '89, I tried to get my dad to buy a Batman #1 for $5,000 as an investment. it was worth about $4,500 then. He now regrets that decision.

The first Spiderman comic is Amazing Fantasy #15. Since it came out in the 1960's there are more copies around than the original Batman or Superman books. You can pick up one of these for about $5,000.
