J That's it. It isn't an initial or anything. That is my full first name. It sucks ass. I have to explain, sometimes for 10 minutes or more, that it really is my full first name. I have had the DMV not be able to enter a one letter name into their computer and they had to put my middle initial in there also (which is also J.) just so the computer could put a name on my drivers liscense. It's a pain in the ass. You're kidding, right? Are you being sarcastic? Because I could explain it again!!!

Sure, I like it. It's spelled d-e-b-o-r-a-h. It's pronounced de-Bor-ah. But, I just usually pronouce it Debra. It's weird but, I don't like seeming pretentious.
However, when I want to make sure someone spells it correctly, I pronounce it de-Bor-ah. So, ironically, it peeves me when someones say: "Oh! You mean Debra." (Like saying Jac-kay instead of Jackie.) "No...biotch! It's de-Bor-ah." It's Hebrew. It means "Queen Bee!" At least, that's would I'd like to say, if I had the nerve.

I used to hate my name when i was kid! I thought...Melissa is such a baby's name...imagine havin that name when i grow up...and then my nickname...MISSY!!! Oh nooo! Quite frankly I would have preffered my first name to be my middle name, which is Fleur. Or Tiffany, which is the alternative name my mum was gonna call me until my nana and my daddy said no, call me Melissa. But see, now i'm happy with it all, and i love my nickname...it's on my name tag for one of my jobs and it feels kinda cutesy and makes me feel right at home  No hablo espanol,no!

I used to hate my name (Brett) when I started school at age 5/6 because there were no other kids named Brett. I just wanted a name like everyone else i.e Mark, Peter, David etc.
However, as I got older I grew to like it. There are a few Bretts around but not too many to make it a common name. As for my middle name! 
What were my parents thinking when they came up with "Kirby"? WTF? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. | |
