Sacramento My home town...I've lived here for most of my life now, and I've always had high hopes for this place.
Sacramento has had some moments that made me proud to call this place home. Since I'm posting this here, you can guess that I'm going to talk about some Prince moments. First, Prince's show at Arco Arena. I never thought Prince would play Sacramento, ever. I just didn't think this town was cool enough. How wrong I was. Arco Arena was a madhouse, and the crowd was going nuts, giving Prince and band total love and respect. That night, Prince had his aftershow at Harlows. At the time, that was my favorite hangout, and was floored when I found out Prince was going to be there too. My friend and I drove there from the concert, and as we were driving up J street, we noticed a limo driving next to us. I said "I bet that's Prince". It was. The limo went around the back of Harlows and Prince got out and made his way inside. Later, at the Concord Pavillion concert, Prince called out to see if there were any Sacramento people in the house, and there was a response. That was cool since he recognized Sac, and there were Sac people there. When Prince played the Hit and Run show here (which I missed), I heard lots of cool stories about the show, and how great the crowd was. I've seen a few other Sacramento people posting here, so I'm curious if any of you have some cool Prince moments from here in town you'd like to share... | |
