Attention Geeks!!! Info on the new BATMAN movie!!!!

Here is a rumoured cast list from the Batman film currently in pre-production (tenatively titled Batman: Intimidation)

There's two villains. There's one love interest. There's a young Comm. Gordon. There's a young Harvey Dent.

Christian Bale [Batman]
Michael Caine [Alfred]
Viggo Mortensen [Judson Caspian]
Cillian Murphy [Harvey Dent]
Katie Holmes [Rachel Caspian]
Chris Cooper [Commisioner Gordon]
Elle Fanning [Barbara Gordon]

Apparently, this film pretty much ignores the previous installments, aiming to return it to its comic roots. No rubber nipples, no Batman credit cards, no gratuitous butt shots of the caped crusader. Rumour has it that the film starts off with Batman pursuing The Scarecrow, which leads him to uncovering a much bigger plot (possibly Ras Al Ghul, which has yet to be cast if true).

Many of you hardcore Bat geeks will recognize the names of the parts played by Viggo Mortensen and Katie Holmes as those of the brother and sister who assume the role of The Reaper from their father. Now, this could be a red-herring, and its possible that both of these actors are actually playing the father-daughter team of Ras Al Ghul and Talia, or it could be that they are setting these characters up for another film down the road (Michael Caine and Christian Bale are reportedly signed to a three-picture deal). Anyhoo, it looks like Chistopher Nolan is interested in making a more "realistic" Batman, who heakens back to the classic Frank Miller "Year One" arc!!!

Michael Keaton was a good, but I think Christian Bale will be better. Bale will be able to go between Bruce Wayne's Billionaire playboy facade and Batman's pathos quite nicely.

The Tim Burton Batman films are decent, but they have major flaws in them. They aren't the perfect comic movies that many think they are.

Co-sign.

Physical attributes aside, he is a bloody good actor (and an underrated one at that). Ive followed his career with great interest since 1987.

I think he'll be the one that finally manages 2 bring an undertone of darkness 2 Bruce Wayne.

Im really looking 4ward 2 it.

I hope it's really dark and more like the comic book Batman rather than the camp Batman of the 60s series and Joel Schumacher films. Im enthusiastic about Christian Bale being given the lead role. He seems a talented actor after watching American Psycho and has a dark, handsome look which Id associate with Bruce Wayne.

As much as I love Michael Caine, Im a bit dubious about. I think the casting of Michael Gough was perfect and would/will be hard to improve upon.

At least there doesn't seem to be an indication of Chris O'Donnell returning as Robin which is a good sign.

Speaking of Clowns, who would you cast as the Joker if they retold that story? I see either Ed Norton, or Mark Hammil to play him (since he did a fantastic job on the animated series. THAT is the Joker!)

No Robin, whatsoever. They seem to be edging this mor towards an early career of Batman story. Personally, I think Michael Caine is a great choice. I always thought that Gough was quite good, but a little too old. I definitely love the idea of Chris Cooper as Gordon. That guy who played him in the Burton and Shumacher films was totally wrong for the part!!!

I totally agree. Holmes and Mortensen would make a great Talia and Ras, however. I like the idea of casting someone who really couldn't be her father age wise, since he always regenerates in the Lazarus pit.

yes, Halle Barry is going to play A Catwoman...
this version will pretty much have nothing to do with the comics and I am very opposed to it
I don't understand why DC Comics is so deadset on fucking with their own characters...
...but...anyway...
if Ra's Al Ghul is indeed the main villain, what about having Sir Ian McKellan (Magneto in X-Men, Gandalf in LOTR) play him?
personally, I think that's a match made in heaven right there...

...and so help me...if Brendan Fraser ends up being the new Superman, I will never buy another comic book again!!!
