Please forgive me... I just had to share...
~Tomorrow I start my student teaching in 2nd grade. Long time coming it seems... even though I have years of experience teaching in a Montessori School. Nonetheless, I have been preparing myself for my day tomorrow, it has been 3 1/2 years since I have been in a classroom full-time 5 days a week. I am ready! While going through some papers, files and misc. to add in my portfolio when I start applying... I came across many endearing moments, they truly are endless. *sigh* I hope you don't mind me sharing. I suppose here (org world) is not the only place I am considered sweet. Teaching is truly my passion, my calling in life... my forever love. ~Here I go... and sweet dreams to you all. You all have truly been a beautiful part of my life, here in the org world.

It's a philosophy, not a religion (as many believe or think), Maria Montessori began this philosophy in Italy back in the late 1800's. It is individual learning, each child to progress at his/her own rate/level, focusing highly on sensory learning. Meaning, age is not a key factor in Montessori philosophy, it's the readiness or unreadiness of all academic needs and meeting each individual level uniquely. I agree, it should be the philosophy of all schools, although the difficulty in this fact is the teacher/child ratio. Which is 1:8 in Montessori (private school with a high cost, mind you) and Public 1:24 plus maybe a teacher aide. Big challenges ahead...
