ATTN: Jazz Movie experts! I'm trying to remember a movie I saw about a Jazz musician. The only thing I remember clearly is a scene where a guy goes into a club where the Jazz musician is performing and he starts taping a rhythm that the performer taught him. He starts taping in different time signatures on the table, like 3/4 with one hand and 4/4 in the other.
I have no other solid information! It was an independent film, I think. No super famous people in it that I recall. Please list all movies you know that are about jazz musicians. [This message was edited Sat Jan 3 15:10:55 PST 2004 by VinaBlue]

I'm sorry, but all that's comin into my head was Mo Better Blues, and contrary to its title and theme song, it was basically a "jazz movie". I'm not sure if it's the movie you're talkin bout, though.
I need to see that again. They did WHAT??!....

You sure it isn't Round Midnight with Dextor Gordon...where he treks to France and befriends a white jazz lover? "Climb in my fur."

No, that's not it. No table tappin scene in that one. Bird? No, I don't think it was that one either. It was like this old Jazz musician was teaching a younger cat how to play, then they had a falling out and they guy goes into a club one day where the older guy was performing and taps the rhythm on the table to make a point.
