What's on your to do list for 2004? Travel plans? New job? New love?

As for me...

* I'm looking forward to finishing my cd. (FINALLY!)



* I'm looking forward to the next New Funk Order compilation.



* I'm looking forward to Duran Duran's World tour.



* I'm debating on weather or not I should pay $2000 for a travel package to a Duran show that includes a Meet N Greet. This way I can meet Nick Rhodes and hand him my finished cd or demo and tell him that he inspired me to create music in the first place. Who knows, maybe he will love it and want to produce me cd. Hey, I can dream, right?



* My boyfriend and I will plan a vacation, either to Eugene Oregon to visit friends, San Francisco or The Grand Canyon.



* I don't foresee a new job, unless I don't get at LEAST a .75 cent raise in February. I'm hoping for a dollar though. I've been working HARD!!!

* I plan on eating better and exercising more. That's a resolution I guess.

* I might do this to my hair...

My brother, sister and I have started taking trips every other year together, along with my neice, nephew, and any close friends/loved ones we bring with us...Well, my sister sent me an email on our two choices of destination for next winter and where we'd stay.

The first one's more my style...but the second one is right on the Mediterranean...


Either way, I'm excited...Start off 2004 traveling to Australia and the Whitsunday Islands...



...and end 2004 traveling to either Paris or Italy...with continuing photography classes in between. Actually, working steadily towards a position of Director of Photography, preferrably on movie sites. I get the positions emailed to me, but don't have the necessary experience...but that'll soon come to an end.

Yeah, long story with that..lol...I had two job opportunities at the same exact time: one shooting headshots and various freelance shots for this coed in art school at CSUN that I met thru my normal photography job...(I took a photo of her car..lol)..After sending her my website address, she acted like she really wanted me to take photos of her (she was gorgeous...so I dint mind... )...anyway, I finally call her up and we're talking for like 20 minutes, and we're talking about locations and what she'd wear and such, and she suddenly says "Do you want more girls to shoot? I can bring my friend.."...I just said "Um, sure, if she wants to come".

She then says "You already have her photos, she emailed them to you when you thought you were talking to me"...Now I'm lost, and said "WTF??" to myself...lol...then said to her "Are you sure you're talking to the right Byron? Cuz I don't know what you're talking about.."...there's silence...then some mumbling in the background...and she gets back on the phone and says "Ok, yeah, well call me when you want to take photos", and hangs RIGHT up. I just stood there with my cell phone, thinking this girl is missing a few pieces of her chess set, if you know what I mean...and since I'd already had too many experiences this year with flakey clients (I did photo retouching work for an upcoming book on African American architects--which is coming out next month, btw--that took me forever to get paid on), I decided to skip calling her back...

The other job, was with a film production company...they called me in and told me to bring my camera and equipment...basically, the interview went nowhere solid, but the guy really loved my website as well. I didn't have the experience or the equipment for the position they wanted to fill..but I got his card and made myself a contact..lol. From there, I scrapped my original career plans, and decided that photography is truly my passion, and my calling. So...signed up with this photography institute up in Santa Barbara...and am focusing on getting into film work thru that arena...and I have no doubts that I will.

1. I'm self-publishing my first book of essays and rants next year (already in progress - I have two readings coming up next month, and the manuscript is ready to be formatted...woo-hoo!)

2. $$$ permitting, I'm going to travel overseas for the first time in my life next year.

3. I'm finally going to buy my damn laptop next year.



Everything else will be gravy.

Awesome about your bf...I'll check it out, definitely. I'm done with maintaining a website for my stuff - it was a good experience but it served its purpose and I'm ready to start getting my writing to people in other ways than via computer monitors (hopefully). The internet is cool and all, but I wanna move my ideas and thoughts into bigger digs somewhere down the line...and I ain't getting any younger!!!
