WATCHMEN the movie

Ok.I've read that David Hayter has written a very faithful adaptation and has managed to include those little things that make "Watchmen" so special.Moore himself has gone on record saying that it wasn't the story that made watchmen great, but the way the story was told.

Personally I don't think it could ever be made into good film. It's so cinematic, reading it feels like your already watching it on screen.I think it's perfect in the medium that it was presented in(if it aint broke don't fix it). However,in the current comics to screen climate,it more than likely wil be made.

Who would y'all like to see cast?My choices:

Adrian-Jude Law
Eddie-Robert DeNiro
Walter-Gary Sinise
Dan-Liam Neeson
Moloch-John Hurt
Hollis-Paul Newman
Laurie-a young kirstie alley woulda been great
Jon-I'd probably go with an unknown

Still think it can't be pulled off.

Those are some good choices. (Except for Kirstie Alley.)

Especially Paul Newman as Hollis!

I think a Showtime/HBO miniseries would be a better home for this project than the big screen, unless they did a LOTR/Matrix thing and created a trilogy. It's just too epic a story.

Exactly.but even so,you'd have to take out so much of the richness that makes it(ie the newspaper vendor and the kid,Dr.long's relationship with his wife, the philosophical chapter of Jon reflecting on time and his past).I mean stuff that's so damn relative to the story.

I truly hope it never happens, but if it did, I would prefer the whole mini-series on cable idea.

How about Directors? Peter Jackson or Ridley Scott would be good choices.Or maybe even David Finchner or Michael Mann.

A different ending?? wtf? Why?

That story has such a parallel with the events of and whole environment since 9-11!

I don't like the idea of dr Manhattan leaving the earth, why not a time travel ending, just before the third world war? what do you think?

absolutely. biggrin

the only way it will even come close to coming close to working is the 12-part HBO thing. and even then, there's little chance of it working.
