For the first time in -well, forever frankly- I'm not
reading anything.

I've got about 75 unread books waiting for me on my
shelves but I just can't bring myself to pick one.

I really just want to buy more It's an addiction
that costs me an arm and a leg every month, but I just
can't go on a week without buying at least 2 or 3 new
books. Well, better than buying crack I suppose.

So perhaps some of you might have some tips for me to
go squander my Xmas $$ on.

So, what áre you reading eh?

my scripts untill the shows open late next week. am afraid to start any books for fear i will forget lines if i do. normally i am not worried about this, but i have 3 scripts commited to memory, versus the one normally committed.

Where do you buy your books, IstenSzek? I'm a bit of a collector myself.

I just finished some other work and plan on seriously bingeing on Patrick White over the next several months. (I really want to write something on him.) First up: Riders in the Chariot.

I also need to finish Anita Desai's Fasting Feasting.

Also, this year, I swear, God as my witness, that I will read all of Don Quixote. There's a new translation out, which might be a good excuse to start it. That may be a summer project, depending on some things.

Why don't you put some titles out there, IstenSzek (or anyone!)? I always get good ideas from these threads.

I'm still reeling from House of Leaves. lol

I did this with the last bio I read, too (Possessed). Anyway, it relates to my above selection in that it's really about not living your life in fear. Great story, with some very low moments.

Lately I also do a lot of online shopping at bol.com since
it's so easy to just sit at home doing nothing all day and
go from one cross-reference to another on those kind of
sites and just order anything and everything that seems the
least bit interesting.

Mind you, they do send a lot of payment reminders

I just had D.Q. in my hands last night, since it's
on of those 75 odd books I've stacked up but haven't read
yet. It's been on my shelves for about 3 years now but it's
such small print and yet still so incredibly huge that it
kind of scares me just to look at it lol.
But I've also put it on my "must read" list for 2004. Doubt
if it will happen though.



I will. I have to go out for a few hours now but when I get
back I'll go through what I read last year and see if there
are some things among those that are worth mentioning here.

Alan Warner~The Sopranos.

This guy is very talented and unusual and I was very pleased to introduce Alan Warner to Natsume who loved his 1st novel Morvern Caller. Morvern Caller was made into a film last year with Samantha Morton which some of you may know about. But forget the film and read the book. Highly recommended.
