Janfriend	The Real McCoy The phrase "The Real McCoy" was coined to differentiate middleweight champ Kid McCoy from a lesser fighter by the name of Peter McCoy

UptownDeb	Years ago I read that the term came about after an african-american inventor named McCoy came up with this self-lubricating mechanism for locomotives. If a train had this feature it was said to be "The Real McCoy." Or, something like that.
