Christmas blues

every year, i hear more and more about it.

well boo fucking hoo rolleyes

oh, you don't like your family but you've got to spend time with them. for fucks sake, grow up already. waaah. stop acting like a child, put on a happy face. you never know, if you're not so wrapped up in how bummed you feel, you might actually have fun.

oh, you work in retail and it's really busy. well i'm so damn sorry... you've got a job, and you actually have to do it for a change this time of year. i'm crying my eyes out for you. it's so very very unfair. pout.

oh, you don't like the over-commercialization of it. ho hum. so opt out of the gift-giving/receiving. you don't have to spend a fortune. i'm realy low on funds this year, so i actually had to put some thought into gifts for a change, and am making my family some great CD's... lots of them. it's been fun, and i put some thought and effort into it instead of just going out and buying some random thing for each of them. and one of the best Christmases i ever spent was when i asked all of my immediate and extended families to not buy me anything, and donate whatever they would have spent to OxFam. of course, they all got me something, but it was just little/common things, so i'd have something to open with everyone else. it was really nice to GIVE that year, and have people GIVE something IMPORTANT to people who need it, instead of me.

i guess the point is, stop your bitching and moaning about Christmas. suck it up and stop being a bitch and whining about how sad it is. boo hoo ya fucking crybabies.

Can't help feeling included in the target audience for this post, considering my last thread. U have a fair point about people moaning about Christmas.

The fact that I have to work today isn't a problem. I feel bad for anyone who has real Christmas blues for whatever reason. Me, I can't complain in general, but this Christmas just isn't going to be Christmassy enough, that's all.

Sure, it'll be a good day, but it won't be a Christmas Day. As far as people complaining about spending time with their folks, I can't imagine that. I'd love to be back in England spending Christmas with my family, as much as I love my wife of course. big grin

It's just such a pity that I can't get that special feeling that Christmas Day usually holds for me, when I stay with my family. It's like ritual and I miss it.

Still, it's going to be a good day all the same, just like every day, because I'll make it one. woot!

actually, i hadn't seen your thread down there, and i still haven't read it. so no, i wasn't targeting you. it's just something that i've been thinking about the last couple of years, and this year it seems to be a predominant theme here, among people i've talked to personally, and in the pre-Christmas media build-up

falloff Just read my post. brick

Plus, I didn't get everything I asked for. And I opened my presents early. It's not fair, but who do I blame, Santa or Jesus, or indeed Satan?

Hmmm, can't say I've noticed it, but I've been kinda out of the loop. I mean, there's Christmas blues and then there's Christmas blues. I bet some unfortunate peoples' festive periods would really put it in perspective.

What has the build up been like, isn't it just more and more hyped (and built up ealier) every year?

Here in Thailand there's no real hype, a little bit of Xmas paraphenalia in some shops, but no big shopping rush. New Year is a little different I think.

I guess I should just be happy I have my health and a job and my second family here and accept I just won't have that type of Christmas this year. Maybe next year, with the missus too.

sure, if you want to. but complain to complain, not because of some poor pitiful excuse to be sad about Christmas
