most hated lyrical cliche?

What's your most hated lyrical cliche? Stuff that rhymes too predictably where you can guess the verses before u hear them, or stuff like "put your hands in the air and wave them around like you just don't care" - a personal cringe-inducer of mine. WHO STARTED THAT anyway? Argghghhhghghghgghgh.

Any others?

Even though I like many songs that start this way, I hate it when a song begins with the lyrics "out in the streets...". Has to be the most overused lyric line on the planet!

I hate the phrase "...take my hand..." and I also think the words "love" and "baby" are thrown around WAY too much. (Death to Ashanti!!!)

If these artists hold words to be so precious, they should understand that like anything precious the value of words are lost when they're overcirculated.

If a rapper can make these two rhyme, I say more power to them! lol

For a while, the bigger/trigger/n*gger rhyme was way overused in some rap.

ermm... there are tons of overused combos like you/too/blue/true and baby/maybe/way to be and love/above and heart/start/apart or even star/far/you are

but my personal least favorite lyrical phrase of all time is 'achy breaky heart'. i'm not sure why but that phrase just annoys me.

producers or artists saying the name of the producer to introduce the song. Rodney Jerkins/Darkchild is the one that i get sick of hearing names in songs.

also, acknowledging lyrically that what is being heard is a remix. i don't think i've ever actually heard the album versions of any of R. Kelly's songs. unless all those ones he introduces as a "remix" are the ones on the album. confuse

Predictible rhyming is bad, but I hate near rhyming worse.

If I can think of a particularly annoying example I will post it.

OH and yes, saying the name of your producer or your "posse" is so awful!

I hate the following lyrical cliches:

-"no food to eat, no shoes on my(his/her/their) feet"

-"home all alone by the telephone"

-"wave your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care".

"Officially Missing You" by Tamia
"Missing You" by Joi
"I'll Be Missing You" by Puffy
"Already Missing You"

rolleyes enough already!

***Other annoying cliches include "I was lost without you","let me love you all night long" blah blah blah

Not really, as this is about LYRICS, not specifically about music. Heck, people could complain in here about poems that used these bad cliches if they wanted to.
