Fat People Get Protected Status In San Francisco From Discrimination!

a classic from my other online home...

Before I start, let me just say that I don’t believe society should discriminate against people for things that they have no control over, regardless of how uncomfortable it makes us. Obviously, many reasonable, level headed people subscribe to this argument, and so to gain this group's support, one must find some way to include themselves in that “I can’t help it” segment of the population. Well the latest and “largest” group to attempt to gain admission into the “I can’t help it” caste is now fat people. I am not talking about those of us that could stand to have a few less slices of pizza now and then, I am talking about those of us that need special equipment to wash our ass.

``We don't need a diet. . . . We need an end to discrimination,'' shouted fat right's advocate Marilyn Wann, an active member of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, and also the author of the book ``Fat! So? Because You Don't Have to Apologize for Your Size!'' to a panel that considered the legislation.
That is your problem. Your fat ass doesn't know how to multi-task.

Wann weighs 270 pounds and says that this is her natural weight. '' 270 pounds is the natural weight for a baby whale not a human being. Just once, I want to see one of these unhealthily obese people eat for one, instead of three and tell me that it is natural. I have personally seen trailer trash at one sitting, eat a bucket of Fried Chicken and a gallon of ice cream for lunch. That shit is not natural.

She said a person's weight is 80 percent determined by genetics. Where does she get that statistic from? I think 80 percent of a person’s weight is determined by sheer volume of food and a refusal to get off the fucking couch. She said that the common perception that fat people are unhealthy has got to go. That is like saying cigarettes don’t cause lung cancer saying that body weight has nothing to do with health. A human skeletal frame was not designed to hold 500 pounds of fat. Hear me out. How can you get so fat that one day you try to sit up and discover that you can’t get out of bed and call that shit a common misconception by the general public as being unhealthy?

When people had to hunt for their own food with a sharp rock tied on the tip of a stick no one weighed 700 pounds. Hell, forget hunting for your food, you can’t catch fruit on a vine at 700 pounds. You can’t bend over and pick beans at 700 pounds. You couldn’t avoid stepping in a ditch at 700 pounds. You could have a bunny rabbit standing right below your feet and you wouldn’t even know it because you can’t see over your gut. In pre-historic time we didn’t have land whales like we do now but we still had genetics. Then again, maybe obesity is a genetic thing. Maybe some people “genetically” eat food like most people breathe air.

I am against the discrimination of fat people in most cases but that is because in most cases body weight has nothing to do with performing the job I am paying you to do. But once you want us to start making triple wide seats in movie theaters to accommodate your fat ass, I want you to start paying triple admission."

I do believe that some people have medical problems and therefore are prone to be fat, however, I think that most fat people are fat because of their lifestyle. They eat too much crap and don't get any exercise. I know that when I eat too much and don't exercise, I gain weight very easily. It's nothing for me to gain 15-20lbs just like that, but when I do, I take note of it and try to do something about it. I'm not a thin person, but I don't think I'm what anyone would call fat either. Being 20, 30 or even 40 lbs overweight is nothing but when you start to go over that, you have a serious problem. When you can't fit in the seat at the movies or on a plane you should consider losing weight. Your life depends on it!!

so true. There are people who have gladular problems that cause their obesity but they are few and far between. Most obese people nowadays got that way from being overfed as children and then keeping the habit up as they got older. It's a very sad reality and it's becoming more and more common.

It's a wonderful blessing to know that you'll never have to go starving but that blessing can turn into a curse when you don't restrain yourself.

who knows how much more they could contribute to the world if they could a) live longer b) feel better c) be more able to live fuller lives in society d) be more involved in raising their children to be great people (everything from hugging them to being able to take them out without as much pain to being able to be there for them for a longer time if they lived longer, to not being in as many bad moods. from what i hear it's miserable to be obese- knees hurt, back hurts, and generally feeling like crap) a good friend of mine's mom has gone from about 200 pounds to 350 in the last 3 years and she's like a completely different person. she's always in a bad mood, she can't contribute her fair share in housework, she had to quit her job because it was too hard to get around.
i have all the sympathy in the world for those who truly can't help it and i do feel bad for those who can but need to realize they CAN help it and how empowering that is. i'll do anything i can to help a friend but some things just aren't fair and accomodations i'm being FORCED to make for total strangers.
p.s. should this be in p&r?

what bugs me about the whole situation is that there are a number of industries profiteering from keeping people over-fat and out of shape.

the Adkins folks, and the shock-belt folks, and the fat-blocker-pill folks... the list goes on.

of course there is an element of personal responsibility involved in this epidemic, but at the same time, our major news outlets are still touting an all-the-meat-and-fat-and-lard-diet - i can see how people are confused!

the fact that junk food is still cheaper than healthy food also ensures that the issue affects low-income families at a greater rate than others. who better to market your "remedies" to? the cycle continues...

I bet there's a big crossover between the two. WANKERS!
I had the pleasure of seeing Top Gear yesterday when I visited a relative to drop off presents. How the fuck does anyone get off on that shit. Cars are boring. The presenters are the smuggest pieces of shit ever.

For our US friends, Top Gear is a program all about cars. Smug, sexless presenters review the latest multi-million pound child killers and 4th rate celebrities drive round cones. The show's main presenter Jeremy Clarkson was blamed for the dramatic slump in sales of jeans in the UK a few years. There was a huge boom in combat pants sales which was put down to 'The Clarkson Effect' by industry insiders. Viewing Top Gear is up there with impotence. Oh and the jeans, they're back again in the UK in a faded look which Clarkson has never worn.

The fact that it's cheaper to buy twinkies than fruit really pisses me off. Something needs to be done about that.
