Ever witness a murder or crime scene?

have u ever seen a murder b4? Good god it was the most scariest thing of my life. It didnt even look real. I was so in shock over it I kept telling myself that it wasnt happening. No sounds like in the movies, no screaming like a horror film. RIP 2 her.

How awful, paisleypark4. Do you think it effected you in the long term?

About 5 mos ago, these 4 dudes were hangin out on the back porch of this building across the alley and down from our garage. My mom, grandma and sisters and I were in the house at the time, but my cousin was in our back yard and heard the guys arguing. He came into the house to bring me a pop/soda, all of a sudden, we hear a dozen gunshots and a car zoom away. By the time we made it outside to see what happened, one of the boys was lying face-down across his back porch steps. Then the boy's father came running from another block into their yard, touched his son and started shouting and crying. We knew he was dead. We stayed out there two whole hours before the coroner finally came and got the boy and carried him away. disbelief

i was working at a newstation for 3 years, and there was one night a man took a hostage at gun point in her apartment. i was workign the overnight shift that night, and my best friend chad, who also worked there had just left.

the phone rang, as it sometimes does duiring the overnight shift, and i answered it to find it was the man who had taken the hostage, and he wanted me to interview him live on the air, which of course i was not bloody well about to do (journalism ethics 101).

i could hear the woman sobbing in the background, and ended up being on the phone with him for about 45 minutes, trying to talk him out of it, get information for the police as to what kind of weapon he had, how many hostages, if anyone was hurt, etc.

thankfully, chad had left his book there at the station and came back for it, and i waved him down and wrote out what was happeneing on a piece of paper, he got on a different line, and contacted the police who instructed me via chad, who would write it down and pass it to me. it was a horrible experience.

What horrible things to have to see. I've nver seen a person die, much less killed. I don't think I'd handle it well.

i got what info out of him that i could, passed it to chad who told the police, they told me to get off the line with him so they could cut it, and i did so as gently as i could without pissing him off, i hung up, and laid down on the newsroom floor and had a mild anxiety attack. i smoked a bunch of cigerrettes, called in a replacement and went home for the night. it ended up being okay. they coached him out after several hours of stand off, and she was just fine, other than some major anxiety.

thankfully the sstation paid for some counseling for me, and i am sure she got some too. i never heard from her though, kinda wish i had been able to meet her.

worse things happen to better people.

that was one of the many contributing factors that led to me getting out of news and vowing never to go back to it.

it also didn't help that several reporters berated me for not taping the conversation so they could have exclusive story material.

a very difficult field to work in. you either become completely desensitized or you are working towards the mother of all nervous breakdowns. i was definately in the latter category.

You're correct. Once out of journalism school, I opted never to work in daily news. Aside from the insane churn of deadlines, I simply don't love news enough to put myself through that crap. I'll stay put writing features, etc.

no, she died of a drug overdose in a separate incident way before the raid. sad but the raid i still remember like it happened yesterday: i was sittin outside of the apartment me and my dad lived in, playin with some of the neighbor kids...all the sudden this unmarked van pulled up out front and sat there for about 5 minutes. i didn't know who it was--then all the sudden all these police officers just burst outta the van and ran towards the apartment, busted the door down n'everything. it was nuts.

Years ago, I saw an old guy die in a railway station cafe in Hull, well i didn't see him die, i only realised he was dead when i tried to engage him in conversation by asking the time and he didn't move. His eyes were open and everything, which was freaky.

Apparently he'd been there some time as when the paramedics arrived rigormortis had already set in and they had to cut the table away to get him out.

true story (the last bit i didn't see, i heard that from the lady that owned the cafe about a week later. I didn't hang around after reporting an 'ill' looking gentleman)

dead

When I was ten, a saw a man shot in front of his home on July 4. I was playing outside waiting for it to turn dark enough for the fireworks. I saw a man run from a house followed by another man with a gun. Only one shot was fired.

The man who killed him came back early from work and caught the other man in his house with his wife.

My sincere condolences. It must have been very difficult growing up without your mother. It's never easy to be without ones mother, but to lose her at such a young age must've been horrible.
