Records and Record Players... I am fixing to get an updated, sleek radio/record player that resembles one from the 60's.. anyone else dig record players? Wish more places sold records.. I know its an outdated thing, but I've seen a lot of people/companies tryin to reproduce record players and latley, I've seen some of my favorite new artists records.. Example: Wilco, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Beck.
Give it up for the record players.. Where the pops sound good.

I love vinyl!
The tones are less audibly separated than our digital formats, but, as rd suggested, there is something so engrossing about the murkiness, the organic "snap, crackle and pops," or the anticipation of the first few musical notes when you drop the needle! Also the bigger artwork and packaging was SO much fun! I still have all my old 12"s and a few LPs on vinyl, but I need to get a new turntable. vinyl
as for findin a newer record player, they're pretty expensive if you buy a brand-new one. try and look around in your local thrift store for one or you might have a record store in your area that specializes in vinyl that may also carry used record players for cheap. i have an old sherwood record player with a pioneer receiver (with the big ol' headphone jack!) with two huge floor speakers (which i can't use cuz they're super-bassy and i have a guy who lives downstairs from me )...the entire set-up cost me only $80.

They do! I got 'em both. They comes as double 10" albums. Lovely warm sound. Kid A has a hidden track on it. At the conventional end of the album, the needle stops progressing. If you lift it up and move it forward a tiny bit, there's a brief instrumental. Not quite as cool as that booklet they hid under the CD tray but still damned cool. There are many reasonably-priced models to choose from, and they should be perfectly adequate if you just want to listen to records. and hey! whats wrong with that southern talk that seeps outta me every so often, Ya'll know I have 'Green Grass Of Tunnel' on 7" vinyl. Sounds gorgeous (I also have it on CD on that recent Fat Cat compilation & it seems to have been mixed for vinyl).
