depends on the mood I'm in...

For stand up, Eddie Murphy has perfect timing and delivery.
If I'm in a silly mood then I love a good Adam Sandler movie.
For a great dry sense of humour, you can't go wrong with Bill Murray.
Every so often you get some amazing performers at The Comedy Store and Up The Creek, which is a cracking night out.

All the comedians listed here are brilliant, but I must include one more: Steve Martin. His absurd brand of humour is so terriffic! Simealtaneously sophmoric and sophisticated.

Aw man, you have got to get you some Bill Hicks, he was a man with a message. Sadly died in '94 of pancreatic cancer. Give me a few minmutes - I'll do a bit of searching and find some links for you (as is my duty as a fan-attic).

His official website :
www.billhicks.com
The site is great - you can download some video and audio clips.

He has 6 cd recordings :
http://www.comedycatalog.com/index.asp (and search for Bill Hicks)

The cd's are :
Arizona Bay, Rant in E Minor, Dangerous, Relentless, Live form Pittsburgh, and Love, Laughter a& Truth.

and various video/dvd recordings of shows. The best (imo) is Totally Bill Hicks - you get his last ever live performance, and the "It's just a ride" documentary.

Watch out for his purple-vein-dick jokes!
