I personally feel it's a bit tacky, it's not like decorating your house or office or something like that. Luckily, I don't see many people doing it, but those who do, I get the feeling that they must have waaay too much time on their hands.

well, it all depends. i agree there's a limit to how much christmas spirit one should try to fit in and on a car - like no, not tree is not a hood ornament - but tasteful little touches like a nice little row of twinkly colorful lights somewhere could be nice...
