I recommended this to everyone.. people see the cover, they see that dude from Dawson's Creek.. and expect it to be a corny college movie. This movie actually really upset one of my friends - it has to rock then hey?

The first Matrix was hugely overrated

shake It was not. hmph!

But certainly Matrix: Reloaded was plain bad. It suffered from pointless and way too long fightscenes, no sense of danger to the heroes (unlike in the first one where they took some heavy beatings), and REALLY bad storytelling (the last half hour or so).

Matrix: Revolutions would have been good, had it stood on its own. Certainly the battle at Zion was very well done, spectacular, exciting and all. Unfortunately its characters were introduced in the second film, which the third film rendered unnecessary. All the going-ons and mumbo-jumbo dialogue in the second film have absolutely no importance to the story line, as revealed by the third. Which begs the question: Why was there Matrix: Reloaded when it's moot?

They should have edited the two latter movies down to just one and left out silly characters like the Frenchman and his silly girl and guards, the keymaker, the architect, the china man, the train hobo and all of that crap.

Really. biggrin

The movie failed to grab me until about half-way in.

It suffered from way too many characters. It got pretty predictable that every one had their one scene where they got to use their powers - very formulaic storytelling.

There really was no need for Rogue, Iceman and Pyro to be in the movie. They should have focused on the grown-up and far more interesting characters.

But that's just my opinion. biggrin

The Hulk was utterly dreadful. Jennifer Connolly was nice though. And yes, whoever that was who said she has nice boobs is right. mushy

I agree, except for the Jennifer Connolly part - I thought the man who played Bruce Banner was kinda hot. mr.green

But that didn't help the plot, no. They got the concept all wrong. And they should have had the Leader in there instead of the dad and his radioactive puddles or whatever those silly dogs were.

But then... Everyone's a critic biggrin

Kill Bill Volume I had some good parts, but it was waaay too long and often way to silly, and to split the movie in two was simply greedy. I wouldn't be suprised if the two volumes combined and edited properly would make a decent (but not great) movie, with an extended DVD cut for those that can't get enough. And I simply can't love the movie: there's nothign there to love.

I guess we have different opinions on this one. I found that it wasn't too long at all (100 mins?) and I didn't want it to stop. I saw it again just to check that I wasn't imagining that it was that good and liked it even better.

I understand that it's not a great film in the sense of being a serious work of art i.e City of God etc, but it is one great piece of entertainment imho.

It does perfectly what it sets out to do.

"Thirteen" was one of the most honest--and nihilistic--movies about the teenage experience. It's up there with "Welcome to the Dollhouse" for brutal honesty.
