Anyone else out there have the holiday blahs?

My significant other and I are on the outs and my family is on the opposite side of the continent. My best friends are there as well. Too bad I don't own a copy of P's Another Lonely Christmas.

For me, this winter sucks significant amounts of unwashed, chapped ass. Fortunately, at the end of the day, I have a cozy, peaceful little apartment in which I can hole up and enjoy my music and read my books and write my little stories, and as long as I have this refuge from the big, lame, horrible nasty world, I'm somewhat okay, generally speaking.

hmph! Not the unwashed chapped ass.. that's hilarious. I'm rooming with my significant other otherwise I probably would be okay. Craziness at home and outside with the cold, rainy, windy NorCal weather. I work from home but things have gotten better since this post as I've taken on an assignment that will get me out of the house at least 40 hours per week yay!

I feel your funk marcdeondotcom. Try not to let it keep you down.

When I was younger Christmas was the joint! Now, it's a holiday for the kids. I only buy presents for my niece and nephew--not that I'm a scrooge or anything. On the contrary, I'm giving gifts of some sort throughout the year. I'm entitled to slow my (bank)roll during Christmas, if you knowhutumsayin'. smile

Besides, I don't like the pressure that the media and retail puts on folks to spend, spend, spend. Like it's not REALLY a holiday, unless your wallet is getting BLOWN UP!!! It's a hard thing for families of little means to contend with. sad

I've been watching "It's a wonderful Life" and a handful of other Christmas movies but nothing is helping.

A four-day weekend is about all I'm looking forward to dancing jig

I think this year has been the worst for me so far. I just want the holidays to go away. Every year is hard because my brother died around the holidays 4 years ago...but I also lost my dog last week and a highschool friend of mine died from the flu the other day. And not to mention I've been sick since Thanksgiving...

So I could care less about Christmas...I will be much happier when it just goes away.

i always get the blahs this time of year. don't get me wrong, i like the idea behind christmas but not the way it manifests.

the one christmas i really felt good about qas when i was in the middle of a divorce and spent the season by myself in san francisco, i had nothing better to do and was feeling sorry for me so i went and worked the day in a soup kitchen in the mission district. felt like i did something worthwhile that day

someday i'm just going to buy a bunch of blankets and food, then drive around town looking for homeless people to give them to
