Anyone knowledgable on this 'Friendster' thing? I had a look at it last night & don't see what the fuss is all about "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

Lots of orgers are signed up, actually...but I got bored with it immediately. People use it for dating references more than anything else, I think. Fear is the mind-killer.

Ahhh. You see none of my mates are on it, so all signing up was for me was sending e-mails to my mates inviting them to join. Not sure it's going to catch on with me, really. "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

I hooked in, and a network of 10,000 people magically appeared. But one or two steps away from my friends and I was staring at a bunch of strangers.
It is a silly website...but look at the HYPE the media has lavished upon it. "Social Network!" OOO!!! Here's your social network. Right here. Fear is the mind-killer.

I have a Social Network called Devaney's Pub.
That's all the Social Networking I need. "It's that Coqui 900, can I have me a sip"

I read all about it in NME, when and signed up and thought "What a load of shite". Recommended dating? Jesus! No fucking way would I trust any of the maniacs I go drinking/clubbing with to try to fix me up with someone. There's hype? I only registered because a dear friend invited me. Hers is the only testimonial I have. I've NEVER invited anyone and really don't plan to.

I totally got caught up in the hype of friendster... but it's a crap site that typically is down or moving VERRRY slowly... I've recently grown quite fond of myspace.com it's similar to friendster, but you can be more creative with your profile page (add more photos, add songs, etc) and I've met some kewl people through it..I even met a Prince fan who isn't on the org!

I far prefer tribe.net - it's based more on discussing specific interests, and it's less restrictive than Friendster.

That's too bad, I met a lot of cool people through friendster. I don't think it's silly at all. I think you just need to take the time to play around with it. It's a great ice breaker before you actually meet them in person. Friendster is real slow now, try myspace instead.

Huh...I didn't know it had actually worked for anyone. :O But you're the social butterfly, aren't you? Fear is the mind-killer.

teller said: But you're the social butterfly, aren't you? No not really! Once you get more friends you're connected to more people and sometimes I re-connect with friends I haven't seen in years. Other times I just get some really funny and interesting messages from people and then I determine whether or not I want to meet them. I've met maybe 10 people so far, and out of those 10 I have made about 5 really good friends...and I'm sure I'll make many more!

I like LiveJournal better. More ability to see what a person is like before deciding to talk to them. Plus, they have interest groups. "It's that Coqui 900, can I have me a sip"

LiveJournal? That's a blogging tool, isn't it? So it's both a blog and friendster thingie? Fear is the mind-killer.
