-Really concentrating on something i.e. a book or music is the best method I find.

Two things that do the trick for me:
1. Read comic books. Go lay down in your bed, only the reading light on and read some comic books. Most of the time after a few pages i just want to lay my head down and sleep. Most of the time i don't even bother with putting down the book or turning off the light, u just sleep. B. If u have one of those 'damn, i can't sleep nights, just get up but don't turn on to much light. Go fetch a snack or a drink (hot milk should work), take it with u to bed, and by the time it's finished and u lay down again, chances are u'll sleep easily. In severe cases, try out differen combinations of 1. and B. If all else fails, write a novel, or masturbate u'rself to sleep. That'll b $50, thank u. cold ice cream. lactic acid makes you sleepy and your body will warm up inside in reaction to the cold.
or maybe a cold sitz bath? has the same effect of making the body warm itself. if this is a recurring problem, you should get professional help. insomnia can be a very health-threatening problem in itself, and may also be a symptom of some other ailment.

of course exercising should help if you don't already.

I know this may not be the case, but make sure you aren't suffering from Anxiety(an Anxiety disorder due to stress or a tramatic incident), a sleep disorder such as Sleep Apnea or something along that line. Besides that: 1) Stay away from caffeine and sugar(ie: Soda, Coffee, Candy, any type of sweets) like 3-4 hours before bedtime. Drink water, but not too much or you'll wake up wanting to go to the bathroom 2) Try working out after work to wear yourself out before bedtime like running or jogging. 3) Watch some TV before you go to sleep, something relaxing, not an Action movie or Horror flick. Put the TV on SLEEP MODE and pass out watching TV. 4) Make sure you're not avoiding any kind of problems, confront it so your head is a bit more clear before going to bed. 5) There are some heavy foods that may just make you feel sleepy, meats. Glass of warm milk can help! 6) Some ppl may disgree with them, but some sleeping pills may help you out, one or two pills of Nytol or another brand may do the trick. 7) Talk to a doctor if this keeps up for a few weeks. Hope these help!

I know how you feel.
For the last year I could never sleep more than 3 hours a day Fortunately, I slept 10 hours at nights or else I'd have been worn out all day Pandurito in a box edit [This message was edited Fri Dec 12 19:56:45 PST 2003 by PANDURITO]
