Ever fought a ticket in court?

I got a ticket for having my radio too loud on Sunset Blvd. It was a busy Friday night and I just left the Knitting Factory where I saw Shonen Knife perform. LAPD decided to have some kind of task force on enforcing those vehicles with loud music. I could understand if I was in a residential area but I am on busy street on a Friday night with thousand of other motorists! The main thing is, my stereo was not even that loud. I am fighting this one to the Supreme Court. Has anyone had success in fighting similiar ticket?

Exactly the same thing happened to me

Except, I never fought my ticket in court.

And actually, I never got the ticket for making too much noise either. Nor, did I get it from the Police if I'm honest.

Infact, I just had a ticket from the Deli in my local supermarket. It was quite busy, I was number 87.

But, other than that, I'm right behind you!!

Allow me to rephrase the word "ticket" with "citation". There, that should clear up the confusion.

I was number 88 and I remember you took ages to decide between the Dutch Edam or the Blue Stilton. In the end they had to call security and have you led away yelling "Give me my cheese.." mad

yo wudup ray ray .. lemme guess it was called a noise pollution ticket right... they'll give you the ultimatum to pay 10 bucks to get it out of their hair or fight it and if you lose (your word against theres usually) then pay the full amount of the ticket... I would say next time wear headphones music but that's illegal... biggrin

Hey Pej! actually the citation is $143. That is rediculous in itself. I have a witness who was sitting in the passenger seat at the time. I plan on questioning the hearing capablity of the officer and to have him submit medical records to prove his hearing ability. Hopefully, he will think it's too much trouble and not show up to court.

I got fined TWICE for being cought without a METCARD which is what a ticket is called around here in Melbourne. Okay, the first time it was 40degrees...i'd just came back from the beach, so i looked a little delirious...and i refused to ask my mum for money when i went broke so i was livin off a bag of five cent coins giggle so i looked like a really sad story...and this woman was such mean biyatch... i was trying to tell her my situation n she just booked me! AND GET THIS! They give you a ticket for the day so you dont have to pay for your ticket for the day. Whats wif dat hmm the second time i got into an arguement with the inspector (he cought me on wrong timing ehehe..) and all he kept sayin was "SIT DOWN MA'AM!" falloff there lilmissmissy bein a bad girl for you giggle That was $200 i had to pay...too much for a uni student i reckon nod

knock on wood... i've been stopped several times for speeding, but always get away with a warning... guess i have that "i'll never do it again, officer!" look to me...

one time, i even passed a State Trooper (on the right no less) because i felt he was going less than the speed limit. doh! of course he pulled me over right away - still only a warning.

and in the small town where i work, i was stopped in a residential area going about 40 in a 25. the cop (one of the few i don't know from working at the community center) let me off with a warning again. completely unrelated to this incident, he was fired a couple of days later. to this day, i tell the guys "remember what happened to censored when he pulled me over!"

watch... now that i've said this, i'll get hit with a major ticket. boxed

I beat a ticket for concealment of a weapon many years ago.

I won't go into details but I was carrying a knife in the compartment between the front seats (it was not a covered compartment) and it was in plain sight. When we went to court my lawyer asked the officer how he had discovered the weapon and he said he had seen it when he bent to ask for my license. He then asked me if I had a weapon in the car and I told him of the knife. The judge immediately dismissed the charges.

At that time it was not illegal to carry a knife as long as it was kept in plain view and this was in plain view. The judge asked me why I carried it and when I told him he said that he could understand my situation but recomended that I carry it on the passengers seat and tell any officer about it as soon as they walk up.

Lot's of love to you all!

Never ever got a ticket for anything. Maybe the cops needed to add more $$$ to the coffers.
