Average Joe - the epitome of a REALITY show

Those who saw the finale last night saw the girl choose Jason, the good-looking guy over Adam, the charming guy who was short on looks. I was sort of hoping she would pick Adam just 2 prove what I thought the show's point was - that it's all about the person inside. But then again, Average Joe is a reality show, and the reality is, a pretty face is what gets u in the door. The first thing the girl made a comment about after we saw her embrace him by the plane was how taken she is by his eyes and smile. Gee, how groundbreaking is that? What a waste of weeks of anticipation, but then again, at least NBC told the truth.

I can't wait until these reality shows go the way of CB radio and pet rocks. And you KNOW they will. The concept of "unscripted entertainment" might continue to exist, but hopefully it'll either become more sophisticated, or it'll be narrowed down to the trashy syndicated 2am on a Sunday night kind of fare.

As someone who loves documentaries and cinema verite "slice of life" programs about the lives of real people, reality television has been a disgusting, disheartening blow to a form of storytelling that I really love (when done correctly).

This is where I think corporate news should be. I'd rather they did this than when they try to cover actual topics.

They should never have introduced the pretty boys into the competition. As soon as they entered the scene, I knew it was all over for the average guy. I personally dig average guys much more than the pretty boys.

UptownDeb

I've been catching bits and pieces of this series since the beginning. On the episode that showed Melena dressed up in a fat suit pretending to be her cousin, you could tell that episode was edited. There were camera's and mic's set up to hear what the four remaining guys had to say about the cousin. Noticed how the AJ's comments were aired while we didn't hear much from the spoilers? Of course, an AJ got cut that night. But he deserved it, the jerk.

Oh, it seemed apparent that Melena was gonna choose Jason. Ever since he came on, she never failed to mention how good-looking he was. And they were ALWAYS kissing.
