Just Saw That Goddamn Exorcist Movie For The 1st Time! Well, not really. I saw Pt.2(1977), I couldn't find Pt.1 anywhere.
But thanx to some of my friends who highly recommended this,,,I feel like a serious chicken-shit and a big JOKE right now and it ain't funny. I've neva NEVER slept in my bedroom with lights on, you feel me? That just shows to you how messed up this thing was lol! Oh my lawd,,,that movie depressed the hell outta me(I admit that I peed on my pants couple o' time during the movie). Sure, I always have a blast watching ol' school scary movies but NOT this one. I've read the book and I've made my mind not to see that shit,,,when I went to one of my friends' crip,,I saw the movie and I got tempted. The SCARIEST part is the fact that it was based on some REAL shit! I'm trying to find the pt.1(1973)!

Did you see the uncut Director's version? It's the one that shows her coming down the stairs backwards. Always scares the shit out of me. I've seen the movie at least 10 times in my life and I still find it one of the scariest ever!!

Oh you've got to see the first one!! That's the one that was based on a true story... the second was just fluff made since the first made so much money.
I remember when this came out... I was like 7 or 8... but I remember the news footage of people having heart attacks and shit at the theatres it was playing in. lol My wife still refuses to watch it. |

Here's a funny yet intersting info I found about this movie: "The film was enormously popular with moviegoers at Christmas-time of 1973, but some portions of the viewing audience fled from theaters due to nausea or sheer fright/anger, especially during the long sequence of invasive medical testing performed on the hapless patient. Its tale of the devil came at a difficult and disordered time when the world had just experienced the end of the Vietnam War (US troop withdrawal and the fall of Saigon) and at the time of the coverup of the Watergate office break-in (also in Washington, D.C.). Friction developed between director Friedkin and various cast and crew members during production, and there were additional post-production conflicts between Friedkin and Blatty. Other disturbing events that affected some of the film's stars (injury and death) also plagued the production." Talking about bad timing, huh? lol

My mom used to say she worked with a guy who became an alcoholic after seeing The Exorcist...I have a really hard time believing a movie can inspire an actual chemical addiction!!! (unless of course it's a Meg Ryan movie, but that's another topic altogether...)

I saw this in the theater a couple years back and everyone in the theater actually screamed out loud at this part. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Wait a minute... You were torn apart by The Exorcist II: The Heretic?!? That was the lamest thing EVER to go on celluloid!!!
You DEFINITELY need to see part I. If part II scared you, part I will surely make you enter seminary. By the way, there's a long-time-coming prequel to the Exorcist films due out in 2004 or 2005. It explores Father Kerris' first bout with the demon that possessed Reagan (Pazzuzu, I think). [This message was edited Thu Dec 4 9:21:15 PST 2003 by Lammastide] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Of interest (perhaps only to a theology geek like me). This was the demon depicted in The Exorcist I...
PAZUZU Iraq ca. 800-600 B.C. Bronze Purchased in New York, 1943 The demon Pazuzu represented by this figurine stands like a human but has a scorpion's body, feathered wings and legs, talons, and a lion-like face on both front and back. Pazuzu, the "king of the evil wind demons," was not entirely unfriendly to mankind. As an enemy of the dreaded Lamashtu demon, bearer of sickness especially to women and children, Pazuzu is often portrayed on amulets used as protection in childbirth. The ring at the top of this figurine suggests that it was such an amulet. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Harlepolis, I've got like three different versions of the first Exorcist on DVD and VHS. If I wouldn't start another war by sending contraband to Qatar, I'd happily send you a copy. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

"It's a good day for an exorcism."
As was said before, if you were scared from Part 2, wait till you see part one. A glimpse is in my avatar. Part 2 is the worst of all of them. Part 3 is also pretty good. But no other horror movie on earth compares to the original. The Shining is up there, but still not even close to The Exorcist. I love the film and have seen it several times and still cannot sleep at night after I watch it. It truly is that damn scary. And Lammastide, the Exorcist prequel is supposed to come out February 4th (i think) of 2004. It may have been pushed back though. In any event, it isnt too far off.
