This morning I had my class writing poems about winter. A girl in my class made this out of the word Snow,keep in mind I teach spec ed and my kids really do not know how to read or write.

I don't know why but I think it's beautiful and it's the best work anyone has done in my class all year.

It may sound so small but when they do stuff like that it really kicks you in the heart in a good way.

Like today I was/am having a really down depresssed the world is hopeless kind of day and my kids didn't know that but they picked up on it on some level. I got lots of extra hugs , a picture of a flower and I got told I was beautiful and that the little girl who wrote that poem told me that she wished I was her mom. My kids are hard to deal with
(they have emotional disorders and can be very violent) but I couldn't imagine having a better class my first year as a teacher.
