I know most of you probably have no clue who he is, but he was in a movie called Ladybugs with Rodney Dangerfield and a show called Seaquest DSV (which I never saw)

Actor Jonathan Brandis Dies at 27

LOS ANGELES - Jonathan Brandis (news), who from an early age appeared in a string of roles on television, commercials and film, including the starring role in 1991's "The Neverending Story 2: The Next Chapter" and two seasons on Steven Spielberg (news)'s "SeaQuest DSV," has died. He was 27.


The county coroner's office is investigating the Nov. 12 death, which was reported by the Los Angeles Police Department as a possible suicide, Lt. Ed Winter of the coroner's Investigations Bureau said Thursday.


The coroner performed an autopsy but the cause of death will not be announced until the results of blood and toxicology tests are returned. The investigation could take as long as four to six weeks.


Police said a friend of Brandis called 911 from the actor's apartment just before midnight on Nov. 11 to report Brandis had attempted suicide. Paramedics transported Brandis to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but he died the next day, police Detective Gene Parshall said.


The office of Brandis' agent at Innovative Artists refused to comment.


Brandis started his career in commercials and on television, landing a recurring role on the soap "One Life to Live" at age six. After moving with his family to Los Angeles at age nine, he made guest appearances on such shows as "L.A. Law," "Who's the Boss?" and "Murder, She Wrote."


Other film credits included the Rodney Dangerfield (news) comedy "Ladybugs," and the martial arts comedy "Sidekicks" with Chuck Norris (news), and a small part in the 2002 film "Hart's War," starring Bruce Willis (news).


Brandis also starred as crew member Lucas Wolenczek in the underwater sci-fi series "SeaQuest DSV," a role that garnered him a Young Artists Award in 1993 and helped turn him into a teen idol.

I know who he is, very sad.

I remember him well...

Yes, the reports you’ve been hearing are sadly true. Last Wednesday, November 12th, the 27 year-old television star, Jonathan Brandis committed suicide by hanging himself, and friends discovered him. There was no suicide note.

Preliminary toxilogical reports reveal that there was NO trace of drugs of any kind found in Jonathon’s body. None.

Our hearts go out to this fine young actor’s parents, Greg and Mary, who are understandably devastated by this death.

Speculations as to the underlying causes of this tragedy are exactly that; speculations. It serves no purpose to leap to conclusions for none of us will really know what led Jonathan to his decision to take his life.

We are left with a sense of helplessness and perhaps even anger that this thoroughly unexpected death occurred when we have spent years developing resources to deal with any and all crisis situations.

This one hurts. What more can we say?

I can't believe this 'kid' is dead.
I vividly remember him in TNES2 and Seaquest DSV.

How sad...I thought that he was a good actor.

I'm so not surprised...who the fuck would want to be a child star??? When the fame and attention goes it must be a total fuckin nightmare to become trapped as the cute little kid in the publics consciousness. I don't think suicide as an escape is the answer but it doesn't surprise when it happens at all.

Very sad news...

This is sad. Last I saw of him, he was in this Moto-Cross movie... like, made for television type thing...

You never really know... there's more to the eye than what we see... glamour boy... indeed.

Yes, when he was in Ladybugs, I really planned on marrying him one day. All of the girls in my class were in love with him.

I didn't know this, but he apparently dated Tatyana Ali (fresh prince of bel air) for a long time. for both of them and his family and friends
