shrug It was stuffing, but I started eating vegetarian this year, and my mother informed me that her stuffing recipe contains chicken broth. So I don't know. Thanksgiving dinner is overrated anyway.

Problem is, I visit my parents' house for Thanksgiving, and they handle the cooking. If I were spending the day by myself, I probably wouldn't bother to do a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Does she not want to make it with vegetable broth for the taste? It's not difficult to substitute and doesn't taste that different.

I won't even get started on my favorite main course, other than it involves a track team, about 40 gallons of lime jell-o, a bottle of Jack Daniels and a trampoline.

I don't know, actually. It's my personal policy that I don't ask others to accommodate my diet (although I'm certainly appreciative when they do so anyway). And I'm content simply to do without.

Well it would probably be healthier for everyone... I know what you mean though. I don't like to make waves. sad

I'm sure she wants you to be able to eat it if you like it. She might not realize that she can just put in vegetable broth in it's place simply edit

Oh, if I talk with her between now and then, I might find a way to bring it up casually without actually asking her to change the recipe. Because there are enough obnoxious vegetarians in the world, I try to err on the side of being a good ambassador. smile I'd like to think it ultimately accomplishes better results.

The use of chicken broth versus vegetable broth in a side dish at one meal probably has no marginal effect on their health. I'm much more concerned about my mother's use of cigarettes, but I don't bug her about that either because, well, she is my mother and I value having a good relationship with her.
