Sorry, I'm not trying to be outwardly antagonistic or even bring balance to this thread, but watching this soft-focus slide show made me feel like I just ate fourteen Mars Bars then drank a large chocolate milk-shake.
Some people need religion in their lives to draw solid root lines in their mind as to why the human race was given the gift/curse of conciousness - ie the knowledge that your are a terminal creature and doomed to rot in the ground. That's fine by me. I would never critisise anyone's personal beliefs or allusions - if they've made up their mind themselves that is, and not through subliminal brain-washing techniques applied by certain sects, movements and governments (kid's Sunday Schools, children being forced to read the Lord's Prayer in school every morning etc) and some even adopt their own parent's beliefs! - something which I persoanlly think cheapens the intelligence and intellect every person was born with. Personally, I have a healthy appetite for exploring all aspects of the human condition, but the belief in Jesus/Krishna/Mohammed/Allah/Buddah seems to me a direct reflection/regurgitation of what everyone remembers themselves as being before the adult world diseased our perception of purity and magic. We all want to get back there, but the idea of someone being 'born-again' strikes me as both hilarious and heart-breaking. They've given up - on both their sanity and themselves. I truly believe if our race is still in existance 3000 years from now, they will dismiss our quaint beliefs in an all-powerful 'God' the way we now do regarding the Roman's fear of the furious warrior-God Zeus and his incestuous family of lesser Deities. This existence is certainly a strange trip if we take time out to contemplate our perceptions of reality, but blind belief - to me - is just giving up on yourself and your beautiful, already all-knowing open mind. Religion truly is a fatal flaw in human nature - a brick wall of thought - and all we have to do is turn on the news to see the pit 'faith' digs for itself in the end. Of course, if Jesus decides to come back to collect y'all for the final rapture/ascension, I'm sure he'll also find a seat for me on the bus for questioning the nature of his existance - after all, didn't 'He' gift me this mind to contemplate the unknowable? I truly believe, if there is a 'God', he would love and appreciate people like myself who challenge his existance and power over the braying syncophants who fall to their knees at the first mention of his name. Peace, 23. You are God edit [This message was edited Sun Nov 23 14:51:18 PST 2003 by Number23]

Faith is the soul going out of itself for all its wants...
Faith is love taking the form of aspiration... Faith means belief in something concerning which doubt is theoretically possible... The smallest seed of faith is better than the largest fruit of happiness... Treat the other man's faith gently: it is all he has to believe with. ![]()

Sorry, nice sentiment 'n' all, but I gotta side with Number23 on
this one. It just reminds me of the Jim Cunningham video in Donnie Darko. [This message was edited Sun Nov 23 13:00:30 PST 2003 by BorisFishpaw]

These lyrics sum it up best to me.
Once was this ball with a line straight down the middle One side was black and the other one white And they both understood so little That they spent their whole lives tryin' 2 tell each other what time it was And all along it did not matter what either said Because, because U only know what u know U only see what your heart will show U only love when your soul remembers We all come from the same December And in the end that's where we'll go So let's go There once was a golden idol that went 2 the winners Needless 2 say, it didn't make 'em feel any less a sinner Cuz the very next mornin' the whole damn world was the same Yes it was The idol's still shinin' but the voice inside it said, "There ain't no winners in this game" U only know what u know U only see what your heart will show U only love when your soul remembers We all come from the same December And in the end that's where we'll go So let's go There once was an angel Who most certainly watched over me But if it got me through the day Is it crazy? Yeah, I'll be crazy Until the demons fall as far as anyone can fall When they reap what they done sowed, I'll be standin' tall We spend our whole lives tryin' 2 dog the other man When what we need 2 do is try to give him all we can But, uh, u only know what u know And, uh, u only see what your heart'll show And, uh, u only love when your soul remembers We all come from the same December And in the end that's where we'll go So let's go Let's go Let's go! I GOT YA, I GOT YA, I GOT YA PUNKASS! REPEAT

funny how the
non believers are always the first to put down someone else's beliefs then try to mask it by using the "to each their own" sentiment. and how does one's belief in a 'higher power' equate to illusions? it obviously reads "for those who might like this". this is not for argument sake, but i mean really. and who says that everyone who believes in a 'god' has questionable intelligence? or that they themselves don't question the existence? nice video..not my thing wasn't forced on me, and it wasn't one of those 'turn or burn' things. but believer or not, the words send a kind heartded message. so where's the problem? why are others so quick to put someone down for spreading something meant to enlighten, inspire or just share? i always wonder about people who don't believe but are always the first to react. if you don't believe, then why does it affect you? and remember, that was just a question. :F:

For the record, I wasn't putting anyone down. I was, as you are now, merely putting forward an opinion. But unlike myself, you obviously have been gifted with a peaceful soul, so I won't take umbridge with any of the points you raised. Peace.
