Who's Cooking What For Thanksgiving?

lick

We're going to the inlaws so don't have to worry about the bird, but I always like to go early and help out with the cooking.

I think I will do some mashed potatos with garlic and parmesan cheese.

Then I will turn that stuffing out! (Hint: a little sausage is just the ticket! If you are one of those people who puts raisins in there, please leave this thread.)

You must have the proper wines! But not knowing what those are, I tend to go for cheap and plentiful. lick

Fuck dessert, that's just an annoying ritual that gets between me and the after dinner turkey and stuffing sandwiches!

Oh and leftovers for a week! woot!

I'm not cooking...but momma is.

9's you should try Champ mashed potatos. Use cream instead of milk and boil the potatos with onions and scallions...then mash them together drool

I'm also a big fan of creamed onions.

And I hate dessert too...it's over rated. I'd rather have a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with stuffing and gravy. YUM.

I am cooking the "bird" who we affectionately name Lennie every year. Mom is doing a small ham, since she doesn't like turkey very much. My daughter the Macaroni and cheese master is cooking her signature dish. Mustard greens and broccoli spears are the vegetables. We are having corn bread muffins, red velvet cake and peach cobbler. Jambalya and corn bread dressing. Lots of wine and vanilla pepsi.

We are having the 5 of us plus 5 or 6 single soldiers who will not be able to go home for the holiday.Plus 2 couples with 2 kids each will drop in and eat as well. We really have a big thing every year. I am starting to cook tonite!

I'll tell you what's not cooking! One year some friends and I went to a potluck kinda gig and when we got there my friend eyed the deviled eggs, ran right over and shoved one whole into her hungry mouth. Yummy right? WRONG! The damn fool who made those fuckin things put some kinda seafood medley in the yolk so the eggs were all fishy and gross! It was so funny because my friend was facing the people who made them and had to choke that thing down. The look on her face afterward was classic lol

And while we're at it, no damn oyster stuffing!!! barf

Consumers Advised That Recent Hepatitis A Outbreaks Have Been Associated With Green Onions

The Food and Drug Administration is advising the public that several recent hepatitis A outbreaks have been associated with eating raw or undercooked green onions (scallions). Hepatitis A is a liver disease that develops within 6 weeks of an exposure. Hepatitis A is usually mild and characterized by jaundice (yellow discoloration of the skin), fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, and fever. It can occasionally be severe, especially in people with liver disease.

Hepatitis A outbreaks associated with raw or undercooked green onions served in restaurants occurred in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia in September. Another outbreak of hepatitis A among patrons of a single restaurant occurred in Pennsylvania during late October and early November, although the source of the outbreak has not yet been determined. FDA, CDC, and the State of Pennsylvania have an investigation underway to determine if a specific food is associated with the Pennsylvania outbreak, and if so, the source. The source of the green onions in the Tennessee outbreak appears to be Mexico. FDA is continuing to investigate these outbreaks and has been in consultation with Mexican authorities to obtain their assistance in assessing the situation.

FDA offers the following advice to consumers concerned about the possibility of getting hepatitis A from green onions:

Cook green onions thoroughly. This minimizes the risk of illness by reducing or eliminating the virus. Cook in a casserole or sauté in a skillet.

Check food purchased at restaurants and delicatessens and ask whether menu items contain raw or lightly cooked green onions. Consumers who wish to avoid food that contains raw or lightly cooked green onions should specifically request that raw or lightly cooked green onions not be added to their food. Foods such as freshly prepared salsa and green salads often contain raw green onions.

FDA, CDC and the States are actively investigating the outbreaks in an attempt to determine the source of the green onions associated with the outbreaks and how they became contaminated, so that corrective action can be taken.

While the investigations are ongoing, FDA will closely monitor the safety of green onions and will take further actions as necessary to protect consumers. Consumers who have recently eaten raw or lightly cooked green onions do not need to take any specific measures, but should monitor their health. Consumers who are experiencing symptoms that could be hepatitis A should consult their health care providers or the local health department.

I'm on Baked Macaroni n Cheese and Mashed Potato duty.

This is my first time making baked mac'n'cheese. I've bought
5 lbs of macaroni, 2 loafs of velveeta, and 3 different
kinds of cheese...wish me luck!

My mashed potatoes are back by popular demand. My family
digs em. woot! ingredients?: boiled potatoes skin on, smashed
and mixed with sour cream, butter, campbells cream of mushroom soup, salt-n-pepper. Add green onions shocked for color and, my knockout ingredient, chopped fried bacon.
Top with gravy, and there's nothing better.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
