MJ vs R Kelly... what's the difference?

First of all, this is not a MUSIC thread so please do not move it.

Question: does anyone know what the status is of the investigation of R. Kelly's child pornography and statutory rape charges?

It's a case where there is evidence that R engaged in sex with underaged girls and video taped it. Yet I do not recall this level of media or police scrutiny into the case.

Not only has R seemed to be able to shrug off those charges, but he has gone on to release one of his most successful albums to date, garner awards, and receive standing ovations.

MJ, on the other hand... well we just don't know really what the deal is. Of course MJ has a much higher profile.

Those sheriffs are def out for him $3 million bail; multiple charges; etc.

I think it's time people ended the culture of spending millions on TV and papers to try and bring these people down, and started using it to find methods of treatment and enforcing new measure to protect children.

I must be honest I know very little about R Kelly (being English). Is he in jail right now. What’s his sentence?

What was that song about? I thought his name began with a D. Was it changed for legal reasons?

I read that his lawyers are working on terms for a surrender... He will cooperate...

We will just have to wait and see.. Hopefully we will not judge to soon, and await the facts.

I believe R's investigation is still pending... he does have to ask the judge for permission to leave Illinois when he's touring.

Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman gave the following statement to the press: "We've seen this before; our response is 'Here we go again.' Michael has 24-hour-a-day supervision with him for the specific reason to protect him from these claims." (NBC News via MTV.com)

Wow. Looks like he's in REAL troube this time.

I was going to say he should go move in with Roman Polanski, but looks like 5-0 already thought of that. disbelief

There is no difference between R. Kelly and MJ, other than there being filmed evidence in R's case.

All of a sudden I feel ill...like this is really it and they have proof..I was always up in the air about whether or not he was innocent etc even though I didnt agree with him havng sleep overs. Others in the industry said he wasnt like his image etc ..now if its found out he did it etc..its sort of like an american tragedy mental illness type of ting being played out in public. Of someone who was a great artist that I grew up with. I was also going to post an Invincible-2 years later, because I fel it was underrated and still holds up with some of th e songs like Break Of dawn, Whatever Happens, Speecheless etc...this is some shit goin down now.

They said MJ is going to be represented by Mark Garragos (sp?) the same attorney representing Scott Peterson in the Lacy Peterson murder case.

Umm, don't ya think that lawyer got his plate full already?

Yes I hate to witness the self-destruction of someone in the public like this. Esp someone who for at least two years had my undivided attention as a little kid when Thriller came out. sad
