KeithyT's Football Memories Back in 1985/86 American Football became quite popular over this side of the pond due to the high profile SuperBowl XX win of the Chicago Bears (46-10 over the Pats, sorry CarrieLee) and the larger than life characters of Mike Ditka, Jim MacMahon and especially William “The Refigerator” Perry (sorry 2the9s). The next season I think the Giants won the Superbowl (over Denver) and again there were big personalities like Bill Parcells, Lawrence Taylor, Pepper Johnson, Phil Simms and Joe Morris (hope I’m getting these names right from memory).
Anyhow, because I was following the sport on Channel 4 here in the UK I picked a team to cheer. I chose the Seattle Seahawks (mainly because I liked the Blue, Green and Silver of their kit and the Hawk logo ). I remember they had Dave Krieg as their QB, Steve Largent (legend) as one of their wide receivers, Curt Warner (I think) as a running back and a season or two later (1987/88?) Brian “The Boz” Bosworth joined as a linebacker. He had a silly dyed spiky mullet and got injured pretty quick I seem to recall. Later turned up in a dumb movie (Stone Cold?). The Seahawks were pretty good (although at the time they were in the AFC West and were second to Denver) and a lot better than their fellow late-1970s expansion team the Buccaneers (I believe the Buccs are now the more successful team?). Well the Seahawks fortunes and my enthusiasm for gridiron razzmatazz dwindled over the next few years (TV coverage in the UK also became less high profile) but things have started to pick up again. Channel 5 show a lot of games now and I hear the Seahawks are doing rather well (although now they are in the NFC West with the 49ers?). I have no idea who the current crop of famous players are but I just wanted to share some memories and ask if the Seahawks are indeed a force to be reckoned with. Sorry if it became a ramble. If anyone can give me some info on this current season I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance KeithyT P.S. I just remembered Walter Payton. Man! How could I forget him? I just saw the Seahawks vs Packers wildcard game taped from a few days ago and what do you know - the Seahawks were alright! Right up until Matt Hasselback threw that silly interception.
Oh well I'm going to watch all the playoff games they show on Channel 5 over here and get back my football interest. So who do you guys fancy for the divisional play-off games? Just somewhere in the middle,

The Pat's are going all the way again this year! And then shortly after Tom Brady will confess his love for me!
