Moments after the December 2002 issue of FHM hit newstands, the magazine received an overwhelming response. An unprecedented 70 percent of reader mail was dedicated to one subject-new modeling sensation Vida Guerra. While one letter stated, "We need to see more of that girl Vida--her ass is bangin'," another took it a little further by exclaiming, "If we don't get more, we'll burn down the entire East Coast!" So, to save the Eastern Seaboard and fill the incredible reader demand, FHM has called back Vida and her "assets" for an encore photo shoot.

Vida Guerra's natural Latin beauty has always turned heads, but this kind of astronomical attention is new to her. The full-time loan officer and resident of Perth Amboy, NJ always wanted to model, but wasn't sure how to go about it. A friend suggested she send some photos to FHM, and for obvious reasons they caught the attention of photo editors as they were putting together a lingerie shoot with everyday girls. By the time the layouts were finished, it was clear Vida was anything but "everyday" and that she'd soon be one of the most exciting things in the modeling (and mortgage) industry. "My whole town went out and bought the magazine," Vida says. "All these people were asking me to autograph their copy." Vida better stock up on pens-as this bronze beauty begins blowing up, she'll be doing a lot of signing.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Vida moved with her family to the Garden State when she was 6. "I used to get teased all the time in grade school because I was this really skinny girl, but my butt was huge," she admits, suggesting she's been gifted from a young age. "I would always be in the principal's office because someone had grabbed my butt and made me cry." By high school, the teasing tykes had grown into admiring guys who would ask if they could have fries with her "shake." Vida's not crying anymore-her angelic face and devilish curves are grabbing heavenly attention, and this time she doesn't mind.

However, not everyone has been crazy about Vida's development. "My dad was very strict about dating," Vida recalls. "Then once, when I was 18, I did a fashion show that had a lingerie segment and I came out in a G-string. He didn't talk to me for two months-I kid you not."

Things went slightly better when Vida found her way into the medium that her natural talents seems specifically designed: rap videos.

In a brush with fame, she was cast in the Big Pun song, New York to New Orleans. "They wanted the girls to be in the back, but as I was walking by, Big Pun was like, 'Oh no, tell her to come over here,'" Vida says. "So I sat next to Big Pun while he was rapping. His little toe was broken, and he had it up on a small table in front of us. At one point the girl next to me tried to get all in the camera, so she flung her arm at me and I moved back--accidentally kicking the table his toe was on. I hurt his toe and spilled fake Cristal all over the place. He was like, 'Vida, what are you doing to me?'"

All was forgiven (could you hold a grudge against her?), and while the video never made it into popular rotation, the torrent of attention has brought Vida numerous print and television opportunities. Along with additional video shoots and CD covers.

For a loan officer born in Cuba who wasn't sure how to get into modeling, Vida's career is exploding. With the new layout dropping in FHM and every facet of the media world knocking at her door, this is just the beginning-get ready to see a lot more of Vida Guerra.
