Well its been a great week and has given me a real insight into the career I wish to pursue!..

2day was spent mainly with the infants (4,5 and 6 year olds). They really say the funniest things! A boy came up 2 me and showed me his cut lip...

Boy: 'Look what Ive done to my lip!'

Me: 'Ooh dear, how did you do that?'

Boy: 'I was in the playground and my friend tried to kiss me on my knee. He stood up and his head hit me on the chin!'

lol touched confuse

ehehehehe.

I think thats made my mind up that I would like to teach junior/primary children really, namely 7-11 year olds. The week has seen me help them with many activities-guidance with maths and english, help with IT, advice and guidance with painting and drawing and listening to them read, etc...

The end of the day/week was rather touching when two girls from Y6 said they had a present for me but 1 of them was to shy to give it me. I said, 'It doesnt matter but it was very thoughtful'. Anyway, they both plucked up the courage and gave me their gifts which were two feathers with a chinese symbol on them they had made in art and design. touched

So its been a very satisfying and enjoyable week over all, and I look forward to teaching my own class someday in the future.

JD, I had no idea that you were into kids. (That came out completely wrong- no MJ references please!) You should look into doing Camp Ameria www.campamerica.co.uk in the summer if you want to gain some valuable experience before you actually start teaching. I've done it for 4 years and have had amazing summers. Plus they pay for you to go to the US and give you food and accomodation while you're there! I'm an interviewer for Camp America now, so if you have any questions about it, drop me an orgnote mate. I won't even hold the whole "West Ham" thing against you! tease

It won't matter at all. You can arrange an interview with an interviewer (moi) independantly. We all interview from home, but every so often we have a big interview day like the one tomorrow. I won't be there tomorrow myself, but if you give me a call at some point, we an try and arrange a time when we can get together and do the interview. In the meantime, you can download and print the application form, or ask them to send one to an address.
If you've got any specific questions, call or orgnote or email me and I'll help you out however I can. My email is kungfukeith@hotmail.com

Im quite academic and have very fond memories of primary/junior school. Ive also enjoyed working in academic institutions aswell since I left university. I like children and helping people so I figured that teaching would be the right career path for me. Its what Ive always wanted to do. Although Ive tinkered with other career paths and ideas which have fallen through for 1 reason or another. I really want to do this now and have applied for a PGCE (teaching) course next year. Sexist as it may seem, being male and young I have very good career prospects and teachers and headteachers in particularly are increasingly becoming very well paid.
