:drunk: It's my friend's 21st birthday tonight... we are going ginning. Actually, HE is ginning. I will be there to laugh and take photos of him puking after a pint glass full of 8 shots of that vile shit. I mean, like, where is the sun?

ian said: ADSL is easy because it uses standard twisted copper pair, on your existing phone line. It doesn't have a great upstream transfer rate, but it is adequate for most people.
I'm sorry, but which customer based technology has a better upstream? At this moment 1Mbit/s is far more than anyone really needs. People who need more should opt for a professional solution like SDSL or perhaps a leased line. Or they should move to Sweden or something where they have fibre-to-home.

Well it is impossible to say because "cable" is a bit of a blanket term to encompass a lot of different types of products and services. Generally cable will have better upstream than consume ADSL offerings, but ADSL typically has around 250 kbps upstream which is WAY more than adequate for typical home use. Really, normal half-meg ADSL is good enough for home users. If you need faster upstream, it's probably because you've accidentally shared a hundred gigs of MP3 files with the rest of the world and so everyone is leeching as much of your bandwidth as they can

This has turned out to be a very informative and productive thread. What went wrong? This time it was the second post (althom) that tried to jack it. The third post went back on topic. Hence the thread is successful Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

Pretty much anything's faster than a 56K modem, but it's also nice if it's stable (connection and speed wise). Unfortunately you can never be sure unless you've tried it in your area.
