They Say You Should Never Judge but are there times when you should? I mean when do you say "hey you are crossing the line" and report the person
or stop them yourself because of behaviour you find unacceptable? I GOT YA, I GOT YA, I GOT YA PUNKASS! REPEAT

it's okay to judge. it's going to happen, whether it's conscious or not. judging is one thing, but disciminating is another.
if it's destructive to others besides the person that's doing whatever action you're judging, then yeah, something should probably be done.

Well they say that, but sorry this is the real world...
They cross barriers here and have no concern for anyone else's feeling.. They come back after talking terribly about others, and expect people to give them saintly treatment... And even have the audacity to forget what they have done to others... I say take it straight to the person.. If nothing gets done then it is up to the mods.. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

Not to wax biblical, but we are never therein forebidden to judge. We're simply told that as we judge, so shall we be judged.
So if you're beyond the type of reproach you level on others, go for it! Some protection of standards is not only smart, but necessary for survival. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Moderator | The org is full of shit, just try to keep your boots clean. If you can't take it straight to a mod, dealing with it yourself NEVER works out positively. That's what I think In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Hmm... I would say that all online communities "self-police" themselves to a certain extent - when someone is being highly offensive or irritating, people will generally speak up and let them know. This has happened a lot in the past here on the Org.
That doesn't always work out well though, unfortunately not everyone takes such criticism well and things can get even more combative / unpleasant as a result of such confrontations. Quite often the best thing we can do with people who "cross the line" is just report them to the mods and let us deal with the user in question. For an online community to run smoothly it takes a combination of both an effective moderation team and a collective shared sense of responsibility among all the members, who all do their bit to keep the peace, be civil to one another, and report problems.

So if you're beyond the type of reproach you level on others, go for it! Some protection of standards is not only smart, but necessary for survival. exactly, refraining from utter, vengeful paranoia in the form of judging other people too critically is important and healthy but part of surviving in the world is knowing who to trust and who not to. therefore deciding to withhold trust can be a kind of judgement and is not a bad thing. the trick is to be fair and openminded imo and i think it's important to blow the whistle on people who cross lines that effect those around them negatively. like doctors who molest their patients, men who beat wives, cheating spouses with possible stds, etc. although, the cheating bit is an extra tricky call like if you ever found yourself having to decide whether to tell a best friend their hubby hit on ya. . .
