Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.... Do you watch it? What are your favorite episodes?
Most of the guys they help seemto really need help in the "How not to be a slob department."

It's the only television show I watch on a regular basis. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Most of the guys they help seemto really need help in the "How not to be a slob department." Sounds a bit like an American version of "What Not to Wear" here in the UK (which my wife adores). I dunno. Personally I don't think vanity is a particularly attractive quality in a man, so anyone who makes *effort* to look good is just a sissy

I don't like that show. The idea that gay men have more "style" than straight menm... that's supposed to be an accomplishment? There's nothing more boring than a style-obsessed etiquete- crazed gay man -- they do exist, and yes they are often very sweet.. but the subject? Dreadfully boring and very unsexy!

I find a certain level of class and "working what you got" to be attractive. And, in fact, some people need help to maximize that. Those who take it so far as to look like they've studied style at some university, though, seem fake and sickening -- regardless of sexual orientation.
I've never seen an entire episode of the show, so I can't comment too much on it. The premise seems fun to me, but stories that the Fab 5 have become bitchy, difficult divas really ruin everything. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I don't think anyone has more style than another... but you have to admit that some of those guys they feature are indeed pigs... that is not style... thats just plain dirty & discusting. To me style is caring for one self and their environment.

You could remove the gay aspect of the show and you would simply be left with a program that shows lazy slobs how to introduce some personal hygene, culture, and organization into their lives.
However, the show also emphasizes straight and gay people getting along. This is in complete contrast to all the hype we hear from Churches condeming us, right wing leaders treating us like diseased outcasts, and all the issues of homophobia that get center stage on the news, and don't always paint a complete picture.

Being from 'Good old Blighty' (England) I'm quite surprised at how many positive Gay programmes there appears to be in the USA at the moment.
It may not be so, but from here America seems to be moving in the right direction with this issue. Pity everything else seems (from here) to be going in the wrong direction.
