Matrix: Revulsion

what a load of bollox...people who claim to understand the psyco-babble spewing out of this "movie" are those who use commonly use buzz-words such as proactive and anticipointment to make them selves feel "smarter." But i'm sure we have none of them here on the Org wink

Now then, 2001: A Space Odyssey, that was an intelligent movie...

i quite liked it but found the Biblical undertones to be somewhat tedious.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

To my surprise, I quite liked it, biblical undertones et all...

I haven't seen it yet, but I will this tuesday. It's gotten bad reviews in the Danish newspapers and I found the second one rather bad, so my expectations for the new one aren't particularly high. biggrin

I didn't like the second one either and was suprised that I actually didn't mind the third one. It's not bad as long as you don't have extremely high expectations, which if I may speak for many were left behind after the second movie...

You can't really follow up the first one. As long as you realise they sequels aren't as good as the 1st one, then you can have fun with the action.

This is not a sequal. This is the third part of a three part trilogy!

Um, I was a little disapointed in the latest instalment, because as I see it, the Matrix is so conceptually big (some people still aren't even getting the premise of the story) that it simply can't be concluded in a two hour installment in any meaningful or satisfying way.

I"m hardly a "fan" of the Matrix series -- and I HATED the second one. But I was pleasantly surprised by the third film, except for the increasingly clumsy religious allegory and hokey Utopian ending that didn't make much sense.

I liked it but I still dont know how to rate it.

It was different in feel to the other two films. More gritty, solemn and dark.

I was initially a little dissapointed with the ending but after thinking about it it was hard for the filmmakers to end it any other way.

I thought the battle scenes in Zion were very good.

The start of the film was a little slow and drawn out. The brothers need to learn to edit a little better. The dialogue is as equally daft as the first two films and the acting of a similiar quality.

It's definately well worth seeing but it's not a patch on Kill Bill. biggrin

I agree with everything you said, except the Kill Bill part. I watch that movie over and over and still can't see what all the rave is about. It was a good movie, but i didn't think it was that good.

I love Kill Bill. After I saw it the first time I thought it rocked but I was worried that perhaps I over-rated it. However, I loved it even more when I saw it a second time.

It's not a film for everyone though. It's a real homage to old samarai, kung fu, spaghetti westerns etc. Complete with impossible scenarios, continuity issues, etc etc. It's all deliberate and i found most of it to be pure Tarrantino genius.

That scene in the hospital with "Buck" and his rapist friend is pure fucking mad! I love it. Who else but Tarrantino would do that shit?

Having said the above, I can still understand why some people do not love it, but I equally understand why there are so many people like me who absolutely adore it.

I cant wait to see the way it ends and how the Bride deals with the remaining assassins and Bill himself.

Well, I understand all the "psycho-babble" in the Matrix movies,
but I don't use words like 'proactive' or 'anticipointment' (but
I do use words like 'bollox' quite a lot). Strangley enough, most
people thought the exact same thing about 2001: A Space
Odyssey when it first came out.

The Biblical references are just one of many levels, and tend to
get the most attention purely because the majority of people
are more familiar with the Bible than all the Buddhist, Hindu,
Gnostic, Greek Mythological and Philosophical references in the
movies.

Having said that though, I do think the first movie was an
almost perfect balance of story and philosophical references.
Whereas I felt that the second and third movies were too
concerned with ensuring all the references and allegorical
content was in place, often at the expence of a clean and
satisfying story arc.

I still enjoyed it though, and I didn't mind the ending (I thought
it was inevitable really, any other ending would have been a
cop-out).

Its quite obvious the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies were written after the first Matirx was a hit etc..they had to come up with something..I dont think they were already formulated as has been mentioned in th e past. Bullshit. Just like George Lucas ddint know what the hell he was gonna do for 1, 2, and 3 after the mid trilogy wa finished..these guys are writing from a "its a hit we gotta now write someting" perspective. That said, Matrix Revolutions was dark and lovely. Not perfect but dag...the second is like Empire..watch, in time it will be seen as fulfilling just as it was to me watching it again this weekend. It all makes sense now..

Matrix and Kill Bill rule over all muthafuckas period. Now shut up before I laugh at anyone who dissed it going in and satill bought a ticket to go see it.

I agree with you here, but I'd say that the first Matrix movie was written as only a 'part one', even if the writers weren't sure where they would take the story.

What's to understand... it's just a fun, dumb, hokey sci fi movie. I liked it. Leave your brain at home when you go see it of course...
