Confessions of an elementary school basketball ref

That would be me and I suck at it.

I love the game but I had to referee a league game at my elementary school. Basically I was thrown into the fire so to speak. I didn't know all the little rules they had in place for the kids. One rule was the defense had to touch one foot "in the paint" before they got on defense. It got to the point where I didn't want to make a bad call and ruin the game for the kids so I ended up not making ANY call. The other ref who's a baketball player anyway made all the calls. I feel so crappy. I now realize that I'm more comfortable with street ball but I want to learn the real rules of the game. sad

Agreed. nod All things considered, I'd much rather be playing the game.

 At least you are honest. I have seen some refs who were completely alseep. But would swear they were on top of the play. They can't admit they are wrong or else the crowd will challenge them on everything and rip the ref topieces.

Can you see me now edit
