Race wannabees

Do U think it's odd when some1 of 1 race tries 2 imitate the characteristics U would normally associate with another?

Do U find it humorous or offensive?

i dont like it sometime. I hav 2 admit. Sometime people grow up like that though.

My friend James is white, acts black talk black, loves black women. I accept him. But when u been all suburban all ur life, then all of a sudden u come outside in sum baggy jeans and a whole bunch of 2pac records, that's FAKE.

Now Somolis dont like black people, but they steady wearin our clothes, then Asians, i mean they get respect, but same thing, let me not even go talkin baout u no what. But I am just observing as someone who grew up in the ghetto. Although im not there now.

me and my friend were making fun of that. SHe said, "well ur an asian raised by whites and dont know nothing about ur own culture.."

then i said, "well you are one of those black people that have no black friends and hangs out with only white people"

we went on and on.

That's perhaps the most racist statement I've seen in a while here.

So if you meet up with a black man, and he's "educated and civil", he's acting? And it's strange? disbelief

I was raised in a multi ethnic surrounding. I've seen all types of people being all types of ways... you are a product of your environment.

This is different... it's like he "woke up" and decided he wanted to change his whole life style... it's a phase and it's fake. I agree with you.

Not that people can't change, but overnight??? Yeah... if you do change, make it real. Be real. nod

Okay, mayb i should have added my comments were for entertainment purposes only. Other than that, for discussion purposes they are a nice change from the 'white boys acting black are wack' replies that are to be expected. Please don't think they reflect my person point of view, i was simply showing the spicy potential of the initial question. Which is always interesting.

you know what i hate ??

is when someone says...you are trying to act black...like...how exactly do black people act ? confuse arent we just using 'hidden' racism there as well ?

look at byron...hope you dont mind me borrowing your personality...hug he is extrememly well spoken, cares for others, has great talents in his photography as well as his ability to relate to others...and comfort those around him...what exactly would you say "you are trying to act like byron" means ???

do you understand what im sayin ?

typically...it is the term used to say that someone is dressing, talking, listening to certain music, or having certain ideas...its all the same...its a racist statement from the beginning...

and...what does saying 'youre trying to be white' mean ???

im white...and i dont know as i have any particular attitudes that you could say make me one way or the other...

its just my thoughts on it...shrug

again byron...you are an awsome person honey hug and this was in no way brought to you as a putdown...i just think very highly of you and the things you stand for...hope you are ok with my thoughts :F:

eek Holy Shit! I was thinking the same thing when I saw this post... lol

"He is extrememly well spoken" - is a slur hidden in a compliment.

No offense to you justkelley, it's just funny that those exact words were used by Chris Rock in "Bring the Pain", which, btw is the funniest fucking comedy video on the market outside of Eddie Murphy's "Delirious"!.

I know you wish you hadn't now, but you did. What if that is the style in the area the white kid grew up. So what he had a hiphop artist that he emulates. This is America, should i expect Germans here to act a certain way or Asians.

i think that's kinda the jist of it -- whatever race u are, u have certain characteristics that are definitely influenced by how u are raised. that's natural. it's the being one thing, and then deciding to "adopt" characteristics that are not true to who you are, that is fake, and/or offensive.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark
