Are We Headed In The Wrong Direction?

As a civilization? The more knowledge we get, the more dangerous we become. We cannot handle nature most natural
functions. We have become sanitized and sterilized from working with all forms of life around us. Hell we can't even live and trust our own neighbors now. Throw down your thoughts.

Mankind is still in adolesence.
We've yet to reach any type of maturity socially, culturally or spiritually.
Let's hope we're not just another teen suicide.

u know C I was just thinking about this 2day. Knowldege is powerful thing, but have u realize most of what we know

is just knowing the difference between what's wrong or what's right? You have 2 make decision on a daily basis,
You either make the wrong decisions in life , or you make the right decisions, so I was thinking .. sometimes I think it's just in human nature to rebel against authority. So if we where taught 2 always do the wrong things in life, would we actually be dertermined to do the right what's right? You know what I mean ?

Knowledge doesn't make us more dangerous...lack of character, empathy and respect does.

I do, though, think that we (at least in Western civilizations and cultures) have become too detatched from nature and what the world truly consists of...we've compartmentalized ourselves away from what we need to be connecting to regularly...daily...

As long as we're moving, we're heading in the "right" direction, I think. It's discussion, communcation, awareness and enlightenment which ultimately causes us to move.

Dayum, you threw so more questions in there
Naw i guess what i'm saying is what if what you thought was right turned out to be wrong. Maybe we need to find a new direction.

I think that might be true now, on the surface.

But there have been several other civilisations on Earth that have been far in advance of where we are now.

It's not so much that were heading in the wrong direction, it's that we're being *led* in the wrong direction.

I think the world has been headed in the wrong direction for a long time. I mean we have racism, discrimination and war. There will never be a thing as a perfect world until all of these evils are gone.

I wonder sometimes. People have told me that I always TRY to see the good in everyone. I believe knowledge is power, but it depends on who wields it, and HOW.

Not all progress will lead to our downfall, but soethings we just COULD really do without the knowledge of. You know?

I start to think so, but then I find some info on the way things used to be, and realize that we romanticize the good old days. Crime seems more prevalent because it's reported on more, but really the world is becoming a safer place in general. Animals are being treated better and better, given more respect. Civil rights have come a long way (although still a long way to go). Really the only thing I worry about is the environment. We destroy on a large scale when we could be protecting and creating in a big way. Maybe the general overtones of Western society seem less... civilized? But remember how much hypocrisy there was up 'til the 60s. People actually did a lot worse things than we do, it was just secretive.
Maybe I misread your question, but that's my analysis. The proof is in the pudding, not the overtones. And I think our true interactions are becoming more and more positive.

i wonder this too. maybe we'd be better off to return to a natural state, like some of our kin in the rainforests and all. hanging out by the beach under trees, eating fruits and making clothes out of flowers big grin

but, i'm not so sure knowledge is the root of our evil. knowledge CAN be used for evil, but it can also be used for good. we're finding all kinds of cool new stuff out all the time. i love that the voyager has reached the edge of our solar system and it's cool tracking the sunsopts last week, etc. the internet rox and i'm glad i'm not living in a cave somewhere, wondering if the stars are actually tiny holes in the cover that 'Antoc The Great' draws over the world at night big grin

the problem with knowledge is we're not exactly mature as a race and the worst thing is we can't control our own numbers. population and crowding are outta control therefore so is consumption and competition for available resources. i think it's this that causes so much violence? maybe if we could control our population i think we'd have a fighting chance for our knowledge to help us survive on this planet and even on others.

also, imo the industrial revolution unchecked was a wrong turn, as we've not yet found ways to reduce the waste byproducts of industry in time to preserve our ecological base. we're going down for sure. so to make a long winded post even longer... imo it's not knowledge that's bad, it's our inability to use it responsibly i think

maybe the survivors of what's coming next will end up on the beach, hanging out under trees eating fruit . . .

does freak me out that if there were another planet as evolved technology-wise as we are, science assumes they would have destroyed themselves by this point.
