I think alot of women want to get married just so they can wear a beautiful, expensive dress. Hell if I wanna pretend I'm married I'll just go into a store and start trying on dresses.

Wedding days are all romantic and wonderful and all but I think there are too many folks who don't grasp that when the pretty white dress comes off, and the beautiful cake is eaten and the party's over and all the guests go home, you have to contend with the realities of married life, which is never a constant fairytale no matter how much in love you are.

It's funny how wedding photography seems to have changed recently, with more photographers taking more reportage type pictures. What happened to the good old-fashioned group shots and the photographer trying to get everyone to look his way?

It makes me wonder whether it's due to the current spate of reality TV shows and talkshows. People want to "glam" up their lives, and when better to do it than their wedding day. The pics are certainly shot to make them look like stars or models.

I like it. I just think it's amazing how some things that you think can't really change, do. Nothing stays the same I guess.

Someday, my wedding will look a lot like this...

I think they're beautiful But, what really makes me want to get married is that my parents were together for nearly 50 years before my dad passed way. From them I learned what really makes a marriage.

I like keeping things simple. I don't do over-the-top. The extravagance might make the wedding a success but that doesn't mean the marriage will be a success.

I wouldn't have a problem getting married at City Hall. I actually know a couple who were married there on their lunch break, and went back to work afterwards. Now that's some multi-tasking right there!


Funny thing, I do like reading the "Vows" section of the Sunday NY Times. But, I'd NEVER want my own announcement to appear in it.

We talked about wedding photography (he's a photographer), and I remembered this cool wedding photo site I stumbled upon, and wanted to share some of the pics with him...told him I'd make a thread instead, would be easier than emailing them.

It's funny (and somewhat beautiful) that the thread turned into a semi-serious discussion about marriage and concrete, committed relationships...the photos really didn't make me wanna get married (lol), they made me wanna be a photographer. *smile*...But I like the other direction the conversation has taken, too.
