Reloaded finished, and it spends NO time explaining whats happened. So you have to be 'up to speed' on the events so far to really follow the story. Cool, I JUST watched Reloaded for the first time last night.

Ehm. i thougt that too. In the third Matrix Zion is not a matrix though... Or the whole story was a matrix in a matrix.

There is no 'Matrix within a Matrix'.
Zion is in the real world.

I liked it, but they completely left it open for another "trilogy." 2 and 3 could have been one 4-hour movie with a 15 minute intermission, like Gone With The Wind. Neither were as great as the first one. There will never be a movie like the first Matrix [This message was edited Sat Nov 8 21:40:39 PST 2003 by Janfriend]

Zion is in the real world. Thank god for that! I would have upped and left if they had gone for The Matrix within a Matrix scenario that had been speculated. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

A lot of the criticism of the Matrix sequels has been directed at their lack of ground-breaking qualities compared to the original.
The first Matrix was a huge leap in big budget Hollywood movie special effects, and became part of the zeitgeist, it's been copied and parodied - always the true test of something becoming a true part of popular culture. So that's the thing, they're continuing a story, they introduced something with the first one, and now they're continuing the story - that's it, anyone going into the cinema expecting that same feeling when they walked out of the first one is setting themselves up for disappoint right from the start. I remember walking out of the first one, and I was just speechless, I was completely blown away by what I'd just seen, in terms of both storyline, which was so timely it seemed beyond coincidence, and the stunning visuals. So now, we're allowed to settle in to parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy. I enjoyed the 2nd one, but I might have to view the 3rd one another time to see whether I prefer 1,2 or 3. I was still left with questions, which I thought was fantastic, and probably deliberate on the part of the writers, not only to leave the story open-ended to an extent, but also to let the audience do a bit of thinking about the film, and use their imagination - get the old cogs working trying to piece together what they'd seen over the 3 films into a ending they were personally happy with and that made sense to them. As the credits rolled, I was glad that they hadn't made a nice little happy ever-after ending where the robots had all been defeted and the humans reigned supreme on Earth again, with Neo and Trinity as King & Queen in love forever. How puke-inducing would that have been? I do suspect however that some viewers were expecting, and waiting for that, and when they reached the end without that A-to-B type ending, they were a little disgruntled. All I can say is, it's been a fantastic series of movies that I have enjoyed watching, and I look forward to bitching about the cash-in sequels/prequels that everyone thinks is inevitable in 10/15 years time ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree.
Reloaded and Revolutions are not 'easy' movies like the first one. Most of the answers are there, though a lot of them need some digging on the part of the viewer to find.

I just wanna say that I finally saw it yesterday and it was GREAT!!!
It was an awesome way to end the trilogy, even though we had to see Neo become a martyr to Zion, and he lose the love of his life. The computer animated graphics were great too. It felt like I was inside Zion going through that gruesome war between man & machine. That was a trip. Neo is one of the best heroes in the history of cinema. Hmmm..I was sort of disappointed but reading this I have to agree..this was better than a perfect happy go lucky ending and I appreciate 2 more now after fially watching it again however I odjt think there wil be any prequels etc..it would be great to see the origns of the Matrix such as explained in Animatrix but I doubt it the demand is there, Unless in time it becomes such. I just got back from seeing it and I agree with you rdhull, I was disapointed, but it didn't totally suck. I wouldn't want another film, like a prequel but something like the animatrix could be cool. .
