They served the king against the wicked ways of Cardinal Richeleui (?). Played 2 perfection by a Daschund.

For British kids there is only one best title sequence and this pic will have to do until someone can find the cartoon storyboard style, flying sausage on a fork, and the comic book hidden in a desk.
