Ladybugs Everywhere!

Does anybody else have a lot of ladybugs hanging around outside their house?

When I was at my parent's house recently for Halloween, the ladybugs were all over by the front door. Every time someone opened the door to come in or out, a ladybug would get into the house. lol

I have had a few ladybugs in my house as well, and I currently have a few ladybugs crawling around on my window screens. lol

A few summers ago there were a lot of ladybugs in the front of my house too. Every time I walked out the front door, I would have a few of them crawling on me.

We have a bunch of what I've heard called potato bugs out here...they look like ladybugs but they're smaller and orange. I tried correcting people for a while when they said they were ladybugs, but eventually I just gave up.

OMG - funny story, speaking of potato bugs. I used to call these gray bugs potato bugs when I was little. I'm sure you all have seen them, they're small in size with a shell on them, and they roll up into a ball when you touch them. Don't know why I started calling them potato bugs, I think their proper name is a sow bug. I must have been in someone's potato garden when I was little and saw one of those bugs crawling around, hence the name. The funny thing is, my parents also call them potato bugs. lol Go figure.

I just did a little bit of googling, and I don't think the little orange ladybug things we have out here in Chicago are chinese beetles OR potato bugs...but I still ain't convinced they're ladybugs. I remember seeing ladybugs, and they're vivid red with black spots...what we got out here are kinda pale orange and smaller than the ladybugs I remember.

The ladybugs we have here (in the Cleveland area) are also light orange with spots. We probably have the same ladybugs that you do. biggrin

I know! Fuckers. But we've been lucky. We had a late summer and Fall here so they came out late. Then it got really cold fast so they all died off or hibernated before they could get out of hand.

I think you can buy them at stores, people use them in their gardens or something. There was a news segment on it recently on our local station.

They're cute when there's like one or two of them, not 750.

Asian ladybugs are a pain in the ass and will infest places.
