Hi there - don't worry, kids run away all the time, I'm sure he'll turn up when he gets hungry. It is way too early to panic, 5 hours is nothing. Go comfort your wife and try to relax. I hope he turns up safe and sound very soon.

Dearest orger, don't fret. As Ian said, he'll probably come back when he's hungry and/or scared. I dont know what your religious preferences are, but have you considered praying? Cause in the meantime, you and your wife should not worry, but pray. And I'll be praying for you too. They did WHAT??!....

Is this another one of those sympathy boy crying wolf threads?
If not, I do not think that any parent would advise someone to "not worry this happens all the time." FUGGG THAT. (I don't understand why people would advise you to be so casual about your child's disappearance. ) If this is true, and you do not know where your child is for 1 hour much less 5, you should be worried esp if this is out of character for him. Posting here is not the best way to use your time, sorry. Organize a search party among your family and friends and go looking at all the places he frequents. And pray. Err...sorry, I was just trying to be comforting. I assumed that's why he came onto Prince.org - looking for some reassurance or support. Needless to say I wasn't seriously making light of the situation. Any parent would be extremely worried in such circumstances - that goes without saying, I think.

I've been out driving around for hours
there must be a million dirt roads leading into the woods old hunting camps and what not down them the police said they will be on things all night but they won't call again untill morning they said in this dark he could be three feet away and not know it I guess I should try to sleep so I can get out searching in the morning. I feel like such a horrible father Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

i cant believe what you must be going through right now...that is every parents nightmare...i wish there was something i could say to make it better for you...however...i know that nothing other than your child will work at this point...
the best i can offer is that when we are teenagers...we dont understand the amount of love a parent has for us...and the incredible amount of worry we put them through...im sure you are a wonderful father...dont totally blame yourself...it takes two to get into this... when he comes home...which im sure that he will...make sure you let him know hes loved...and then have a serious discussion on the worry he has caused you... my thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family...as this has got to be the roughest day of your life... :F: THE UNOFFICIAL ORG SEX THERAPIST

I posted this on the other thread but meant to post it here since it refers to my earlier post in this thread:
Glad to hear you found him and that he seems unharmed. I apologize if my other post was alarmist, but I had a close family member run away from home and she was only found by the police after she escaped an attempted rape in the woods, less than 6 hours after she had run away. Hopefully you will take this opportunity to improve communications with your son, and build a stronger relationship so he feels that he can run to you if anybody ever hurt him even if it was you. And that all the other parents and guardians here will take note of how important it is for them to be actively involved in their children's lives, including being able to account for their every moment, until they are adult enough to take care of themselves. (And even then, at times like this, it is good to check on each other to make sure folks are okay.)
