Maybe if there is a sex and relationships forum (like it looks like there will be) only that should be closed to people under 18...? To prevent kids signing up saying they're older, it could be hidden from guests. Kids who are already members would not be allowed in (and we already know because it's in their profile).
This is very unrealistic, you don't have to tell me.

This is very unrealistic, you don't have to tell me. It's a start. People will find away around it. But it at least keeps it off the main boards(public) and makes them have to search it out to get it. I GOT YA, I GOT YA, I GOT YA PUNKASS! REPEAT

I have to say that all humans should be more responsible with what they say and do around others. Children are impressionable. It has been made more than obvious that there are some out there who clearly don't give a shit about the rest of the human race, not to mention their own kids. And because of that, it wouldn't kill us to be more aware of our actions. That being said...I don't recall any one on the "org" saying that they think teenagers should have sex (unprotected or otherwise). I am pretty sure that no one said that they encourage people to treat their partners like crap or to get pregnant at a whim. I think that if anything, (all of the "sex" threads aside) that the people here with children no matter what their age was when were pregnant have made it clear that without a good support system (even if they were their own support all or part of the time) there would have been no way they would have made it this far. Nothing but good advice for any of the impressionable teens that do participate in the "org" discussions. I guess what I am saying is...So far as I have seen everyone here are GOOD PEOPLE all joking aside and the ones with "odd" humour, even we aren't trying to corrupt anyone on to that path. I think there is enough info on telly on the internet, magazines, from friends etc that unprotected sex leads to unwanted pregnancies; uneducated? maybe, or just plain stupidity, thinking they wont get caught out on their first time.

I'm not saying any one person is responsible, but it's the culture and atmosphere in America at large that causes a lot of problems. It all contributes and reinforces. As well as the absence of parents.

Very good point. I don't think we can say that minors shouldn't be here as it's primarily a Prince fan site, not a sex site. In an ideal world, parents will be monitoring which sites their children visit when they're on the internet, and ensuring they are not having sex at an early age ... however, we don't live in an ideal world ... Perhaps we should each be a little more aware of the possible consequences some of our words may have on others when we post to a thread.

There's nothing in the Terms of Service to say that minors are not supposed to be here. The site describes itself merely as a prince fan community site, and makes no attempt to declare itself as unsuitable for minors or intending to cater exclusively for a non-minor community. The Discussion Forum rules, to which people must agree if they wish to discuss (but not to view) make clear that people are permitted to talk about sex, but they must try not to be vulgar or obscene. I've previously been advised by a moderator that there was an intention to make (more) clear the policy of the site in relation to the age group of the audience / participants, but I've seen no evidence that this is currently being pursued. The org obviously relies on a degree of moderation according to these rules, but a fair degree of common sense being exercised by contributors. My eldest child (10) has shown no interest in visiting this site, but I would not allow her to view the discussion threads without good reason and my active supervision. . Again it is and ADULT site, if some teen is gonna have sex, thay are gonna do it, whether they read about it here or not. There is loads of sexual content in Princes earlier music, sex is a beautiful thing so why shouldnt we chat about or discuss it? I think said teenager is gonna hear a hell of alot worse on the streets or in school than what is posted on this on Prince.Org

Nice point, well made. I think in a perfect world we would have to be discrete, but kids learn about very vulgar things very early on these days. I lost my virginity when I was 12 and from where I come from that isn't really that unusual. I know many people who have had sex at 13 - 14 years old. I knew one girl who had a series boyfriend and they were at it all the time. I don't think what we say is going to make any difference. NOTE: THIS ACCOUNT IS NOW CLOSED.
