I have a cold starting with lots of chills...

My uncle passed away yesterday...

I haven't been able to reach anyone in my family...*sigh*

The fires came within a few blocks of where my daughter lives...

I haven't had a Coke since Monday... :O

I've been sick with a cold since Saturday, too, but I still have had to go to work. (I had my annual review at work, so I didn't think this would be the greatest time to miss, sheesh, bummer)

As for everthing, and everyone, else...

My cold...is just getting worse...

My uncle...*sigh*...while I wasn't real close to him, he is family (yes )...and I can still see/envision his face, his voice...his talks with me at reunions..*smile*...Mostly, though, I just think of my mom, and how she must feel having her brother pass away. ...Wish I could be there for her, but I can't reach her...or anyone in my family, for that matter. I leave messages, but for some reason nobody wants to respond to me (??)...I know they recieved them, just not sure why they haven't taken time to reply. It feels very lonely...

As for Tanys, she's with her mother, not me...Thankfully the fire didn't progress any closer that the few blocks away...but seeing the neighborhood around her house on the news right at the edge of the fires really hit me. I spent a lot of time talking to her on the phone, telling her that everything would be fine, that the house would be fine. I told her I was also close to the fires (6 blocks away from me...), but that it only seems scary... Everytime I'd see that the flames were getting closer, I'd say "Please, God, don't make a liar out of me..."..lol...Thankfully, He didn't.

It's been a very strange several days this week, ever since coming home Saturday and finding my apartment complex practically deserted and evacuated...a lot of things to shoulder and deal with, both physically and emotionally...it's actually nice to read some of these posts and see/hear some good news in people's lives.

Was it a mutual decision that she would live with her mother? Or did you have to fight over custody? I hope not, because those kinds of battles create many victims with huge emotional wounds (and basically there are no winners at all).

And Vibrator...*smile*...I'll take that gold star. Yes, it was mutual that my daughter live with her mother...thankfully, we never felt a need to go to court, with it being agreed that I have unlimited visitation pretty much at-will...although for a short it felt like just the opposite might occur. ...

As for my family...the main reason I feel/know that they've recieved my messages is because I called my brother on his cell phone, and got his voicemail after having it ring 4 times...then, when calling him later in the evening, his cell went straight to voicemail, meaning he had turned it off...and this morning, when contacting him again, it rang again...and went to his voicemail. I left a message yet again. Same thing happened with my neice...one time, the cell phone rings...another time, it doesn't. Both times I left messages...not a word in return. It might just be me, but it would be next to impossible for me to get a message about a death in the family, and not respond to it...it doesn't seem like them to, either. *sigh*...I don't know what to think...

That's frustrating not being able to get ahold of your family and them not returning your calls, Byron. I hope you hear from them soon. Sending a telepathic message to Byron's family to call him back because he's concerned.
