She had chemo for a year and it went into remission, but about 4 months ago it came back. It wasn't looking good. The doctors even told them to start preparing for the worst. Nothing like that to take 1 or 10 years off a mother's life. So they started her on holistic treatments. A couple of weeks ago the tumor had broken down into three parts and has disappeared to the point that they're having trouble seeing it on MRI's. There's much more to non-traditional medicine than the medical profession would want you to believe. Yes yes and more yes! "Non-traditional" medicine is not just about herbs and magic cures. It is about allowing the body to heal itself and understanding the Oneness of mind, body and spirit. Western or allopathic medicine often focuses on treating the symptom, which does work for many reasons. Mainly, the symptom could manifest somewhere completely different from the origin of the illness and many weeks, months or years later. Chinese Medicine integrates the body systems almost magically, along with Ayurvedic from my basic understanding of the two. Of course, there is much to be learned from both. I mean if I break my hip, by all means give me an artificial hip replacement. But I am not going to dope myself up with any of the 5500 "cold" or "flu" remedies or fuck around with anti-biotics too much. These drug companies just keep getting richer and richer and folks just get sicker and sicker. More pills come out just as often as more "illnesses" are diagnosed. | |
